So I’m trying my hand at living a healthier lifestyle than I have been for the past few years. In highschool I was running 4:30 1600m and 16:45ish 5k but as soon as I went to college I was consumed by the party lifestyle, alcohol, drugs, not sleeping, eating takeout for every meal. This summer I started to get really down on how I was treating myself so now I’m trying to get back into shape and treat my body right, we only get one! Don’t get me wrong, i’ll still be drinking a bit and partying, but I think balance is important soo yeah!
-I was thinking there must be a few others on here working on some sort of health/fitness related goal and it would be cool to hear them and see what progress people are making. I’m hoping to be able to run my 8 mile loop I was running two years ago by the end of october. Today was my second day running for a half hour each day. I ate a whole balanced breakfast -three egg, red pepper, onion, tomato and spinach omelet, lunch was a turkey melt and homemade smoothie. Also, Only two cigs in the past week
I got up to 180 lbs not to long ago. Been eating right and ride my bike and am down to 165 now. If I could get in the 150’s I would be happy and lighter than I have been in 20 years. I quit smoking 16 years ago and don’t drink so that’s a non issue.
Seriously, Podrunner & the Podrunner: Intervals mixes have been on top of iTunes podcasts for 5-1/2 years, and they’re free, and they’re there to help anyone who wants workout music. For this crew, it’s just very cool that it’s also music we like. No Brittney, I swear. (Okay, I think there’s been a Kylie Minogue & Goldfrapp remix or two. So kill me.)
I dunno how old you are, but the sad truth is that after a certain point diet counts just as much as working out. I hate that, but I sure as hell can’t deny it.
I’ve been right there with ya – the irony of the podasts was that I was so busy being chained to a desk making them, I gained a ton of weight and got really out of shape. Got so disgusted about a year ago that I got my fat ass out & started working out like a madman, changed my diet, lost 30 pounds, and am in the best shape I’ve been in for a long time. So “I’m not only the owner, I’m also a client.” Heh!
Would be in, but need to sort out my knee first - 20 years of rugby in the pack means I could do with a replacement left lleg (over the last 5 years I tore a hip flexor, ruptured my ankle ligaments and have had a tight IT band for so long it’s buggered the muscles around my knee - here’s a lesson kids, when your knee hurts don’t just hose it down in painkillers and keep playing for 2 years)
Hmpf. I’m as ectomorph as it gets : 6ft for 122 lbs. You could say I’m a white Kenyan runner considering my low heart rate. I’ve been almost 132 a couple times, but it never lasted. If I stuff my face for a week (and feel nauseous doing so), I might put on a pound or two. If I skip meals, I don’t lose weight. It’s been suggested to me that I do some working out (marathon clubbing sessions don’t count, they actually TRIM) and eat more often and in smaller portions to work with my fast metabolism. Hoping to get a dozen pounds on or so but no plans
Whoa! I’ve been at about 155lbs 5’10" and I think of myself as thin! I’ve also tried a dozen or so times to gain weight with lifting and supplements but never gained anything. I think my running background has me destined to stay at this size so I’ll accept it and try to get fast again!
