Good Keyboard/Synthesizer

Hey guys, i’m looking to take my production to the next level by getting a good keyboard / hardware synthesizer that i could use without plugging it into my computer..

You know something i can make sound without actually interacting with the computer, but then later on take this sounds into my daw and further tweak or arrange them..

something in-between the 500-800$ price tag.

Beat me to it! Im saving up for one right now… :slight_smile: Great synth, I was torn between this and a Mopho. Ive always wanted a Monophonic synth and I have used Arturia products before, the 49 Key Analog Laboratory. Heres a link to the Mopho so you make your decision.

I would like something with more keys, something i can lay both hands on.

Ahh, with more keys comes a greater price tag. That’s something you’ll have to bear in mind then. I’m not aware of any 49 key synths at a $500 price tag.

Okay so you want a polyphonic synth? Do you care if it is 100% analog or no?

How does it affect it being analog? …btw i increased the price range, i’m throwing in all my savings haha

Analog synths just have richer sounds, they are defiantly better synthesizers. Do some research and figure out what you want out of a synth.

Yup, I’ve never really seen the point of digital synths, you might as well just use a MIDI controller & plugins. Analog all the way.

Agreed. I use poly plugins and Mono Analog.

No, no Julian! You don’t guess analog! You WANT analog :slight_smile:. There’s literally 0 point in getting a non-analog synth!

Analog is defiantly better but the price is going to be a LOT higher. Now you need to figure out if you want to go modular or all in one keyboard. Heres a good idea.

Explain modular & all in one? also i want the keys to have full reaction, i don’t know if this has any specific term…i mean the feel you get when you press a key..hammer time or something?

It’s not necessarily that analog synths are richer and better (though plenty of people think they are), it’s that digital synths use digital signal processing and not analog circuitry to generate their sound. Your computer’s CPU is basically a digital signal processor, so in theory a computer is capable of generating any of the sounds of a digital synth. So the software running VST plugins and the software running on digital synths essentially do the same thing; you might as well use the DSP you already have for digital sounds.

Yes digital synths don’t really have a benefit if you have a midi keyboard and access to some VSTs.

Get the moog slim phatty! Its abit more then what your looking to spend but I defintely think it has one of the richest and nicest sounds out there so far.

you would need a keyboard tho with this.
