Happy Hardcore meets Dubstep

Happy Hardcore meets Dubstep

You’ll either love or hate this, either way it’s free!

Plan B - Love Goes Down (Doctor P Remix)

Hate it.
It came with a remix package from Music-House a week or so ago and i gave it None Out Of Ten

Shiiiit, I wasn’t aware it was going for free! I like it, but I’m going to cut out the hardcore bit. It’ll sound so much better, I love it without that bit.

i have to say i quite like. It cool to see that you can combine two completely different genres in one song.

To me, this pretty much represents what I don’t like about the direction dubstep has taken. You know, the urge to make it either more like pop music, so you can play it on a daytime radio show, or make it - well - harder in whatever way possible. Wobble this, wobble that, more distortion, less music. Pretty soon it will all sound like pendulum featuring girls aloud meets the id&t thunderdome allstars. The good dubby stuff has become rare these days. But hey, whatever’s your poison. Just because I hate it doesn’t mean that you have to.

Edit: Great. 100th post, and i’m ranting…

So this is a legal free download?
Really digging the track actually.

Just tried cutting the hardcore out and it doesn’t sound great…

I’m all for cross-genre stuff, but this is bad news.

I think so Doctor P posted the link on his twitter

AMAZING! Why you ask? because it sounds like 99% of dubstep… some wobbly, some bad vocals. It does not matter at the end of the night… no one will be able to tell the difference ..mabey the djs in the crowd.. but it has good fast elements which will make this a great tune to cross over to other genres… I hope this grows really really fast.

yeah, but plan B made the original, so what dr p said doesn’t matter.

BUT this is on plan Bs sound cloud so its all good

generic fanboy comment:
OMG IS FAVOURITE DRRRPSTEP SONG HAS FILTHY WOBBLES AND DIRTY WOMPS IS SO DISGUSTING LIKE A MURDER SMALL CHILDREN’S GRANDMAS AND ALSO CHILDREN BUT ONLY SMALL ONES BECAUSE THAT’S THE FILTHIEST MURDERS WOBBLE

That’s so true, cept this is DERPSTEP >_>
But seriously, really dislike the tune.

We need to go back to stuff like this:

Just a tip, when posting soundcloud click the little cloud symbol in the top right of the posting tools box then enter you url to get the embedded player. Kinda like pics.

As for the song, a little too busy for my tastes. All I can picture is those emo kids in Jynco jeans stomping around lol.

I cant hear the track, but is this Happy Hard Step?

Honestly, I quite like it. But everything Doctor P deals with, I tend to enjoy.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I personally love this kind of Dubstep.

yeah don’t get me wrong i’m not totally opposed to dubstep..it’s just i haven’t seen such a phenomenon with any other genre where you see this retarded cattle regurgitation of stupid catch phrases like “wobble” and “disgusting” that you do with dubstep… everytime i hear someone say that shit it makes me want to never listen to dance music again, move to the mountains and start a fucking jug band.

<3 the hate on Dubstep.

Seriously though. No other genre of EDM (well, besides Hardcore… but people don’t really talk about that much anymore) has an equal amount of love or hate. People either love Dubstep, or hate it completely.

Really though, I think it just hits a vein that’s different than most other forms of EDM. It’s similar in style to Hip-Hop as far as dancing goes IMO, driven more by the bass. As opposed to most EDM which is pretty intense.

But as I listen to this song again, I still like it. Not Doctor P’s best work, but still something that would fit nicely into a set.

i think those phrases originated the same way ‘dirty’ did for electro

i think the similar phrases describe any similar sound to the distorted stuff. it doesnt just apply to dubstep, but dubstep uses those sounds more, so you see it more associated with it

Its 1994 all over again…
basically it was like this..
the big thing was trance which was more or less safe for house heads to step into. They felt comfortable enough in the all the drugged up mayhem to enjoy both. Then the 2nd rooms started appearing or areas depending on the party that had oldschool breakbeat.. like early prodigy or ACEN, 2 bad mice. Those who wanted a harder E-trip or A-trip tended to gravitate to those areas/rooms. It became more of a religion in terms of people wanting to listen to their own gods radio in the form of the genre. Jungle suddenly brought in the who jamaican thing and it splintered into all sorts of sub genres based on not being house or trance. Thats where the word on the street became elitist.. like .. no Im a junglist, I dont dance to house… and whether people crossed over or not… The feeling of trance music was epic for people experiencing it .. like a rollercoaster… especially in the predominantly drugged out parties. So when the “feeling” of fast and slow contrasting music hit with jungle.. this feeling just exploded… drum and bass etc. the happy hardcore thing evolved into monthly $ making mega hall raves… the whole “scooter” crowd.

my point being… when jungle appeared… people defended what they loved to the point where they would hate other genres just because its human nature for some people to take that stance.
Dubstep is no different.
IMHO Dubstep is jungle, but made with almost 20 years of electronic music technology to aid its production. For me personally Jungle just means breakbeat bass diversity regardless of the tempo or kit being used. Jungle is like saying hip hop. EDM is a good general term like Rock or country..

I love to hate to love dubstep fullstop
