Have you used Serato??

Have you used Serato??

im trying to buy all my equipment by this friday…i already have a copy of traktor 3.3 that my brother gave me <3 i was thinking to buy a vci and a soundcard…or the vci 300 but i havent use serato!!!can u tell me how it is?? thank u guys XOXO <3 <3 <3:wink:

Serato is like using vinyl except you can use MP3s instead of having own vinyls. Heh.

I’d stick with the VCI personally as firstly its waaaay cheaper then serato + 2 turntables + mixer. And secondly the only real point for serato is scratching (or if you NEEEED vinyl). 3. Traktor 4(pro) comes out soon which will allow you to use the VCI along side digital vinyl (Traktor Scratch) in the same software !

Thats my advice. But be sure to give it a try, you might fall in love with the vinyl feel.

hope that helps :]

thank u midian but i was thinking of buying the vci300 that comes with serato itch!! im sooooo:confused::confused:

Oh i c. That could be sweet 2. Especially since your just getting into DJing the vci300 is a gr8 all in 1 setup :]

Basically, if you want to focus more on just the mixing aspect of DJ’ing then the VCI-300 and Itch are your best bet. It is designed more with traditional DJ’ing in mind.

But, if you think that you might become interested in the controllerism aspects of digital DJ’ing, such as the ones discussed here, the VCI-100 offers more buttons that will be useful for future programming.

Check this comparison if you haven’t already: VCI-100 vs. VCI-300

Serato is cool. Its the norm for club djs…I would say its use by 50 to 60% of the digital djs use Serato (please dont shoot me for saying this)

But traktor (& scratch) are coming up and are being respected by clubs & promoters little by little.

I need to agree to this. Though Traktor may be better in terms of features it’s hard to establish it in club setups imo. All DJ’s I’ve seen around here used to work with turntables, a mixer and a laptop with serato scratch live running on it…

Although digital DJing and especially controllerism is a good thing it’s hard to establish controllers as a DJing device. I’ve talked to several casual people that have nothing to do with DJing like the casual setup as it exists back in time. Spinning vinyls is what the crowd wants (although no one uses real vinyls anymore…)

To go back to the topic I think all digital vinyl systems have one weak point. They won’t ever be as exact as a computer or real vinyl system would be. So last night the DJ (which was kinda fool) had so much dirt on his needles that his SSL kinda had a takedown within his set multiple times… :disappointed:

Best regards.

Edit: I’m kinda sorry, I didn’t read the first post and thought it was about SSL not Itch… :eyes:

I’d say more like 90=95%

I’d say for “Club Dj’s”…50% SSL 30% Traktor & 20% Other Digital software.

I’d say… 63% SSL, 47% Traktor, 8% Itch, 10% Vinyl, 40% Beans, 45% Rainbows, 39% Elephant Tusk aaaaannnd 62% Butter.

Don’t know for sure, but I hear most people talk about Traktor and Virtual DJ here in the Netherlands.
(Less talk about Serato and Mix Vibes)

LOL

Just because Serato is the popular option does not make it the best option !

GOOD POINT…but most of the clubs use serato like my broher once he almost couldnt play at one gig one day cuz he didnt have serato and he was playing with his vci…i thing is a really stupid thinh idk promoters and owner they just think the serto is the only stable software :rage::rage:

There is only one way opinions like these are going to change and that is by dj’s sticking to their guns !

I agree with Bento wholeheartedly. There is a world beyond Serato, and it’s better.

serato is very stable and simple and there is alot to say for that. there are many great choices and only some time and experience will tell you which is best for your style.

hey guys unfortunally itch is not stable like serato since its a new sofware they still fixing the mess right now it have so many bugs and problems i not even funny and from what i hear the vci 300 is awesome but they have a lil problems too VESTAX said is the SOFT and serato said IS THE HARD…i think is both…since the release of both itch already did like 3 upgrades version soo they working in the mess lol and some units of the vci came a lil defective so they are exchanging them :smiley::smiley:

so i really think is going to be a while untill the vci 300 and itch get stable for now the VCI was the best option for my sis…:slight_smile:

BTW i just remember the words that BENTO said to me one day NEVER BUY SOMETHING THAT THEY JUST CAME OUT WITH its never going to be stable and its going to always fails…btw i think that post got erase it was on the VESTAX VCM 600

When all else fails… call it version 1.0

Serato is Boring

Just like the other post said, it’s just like using records without the records. Why would anyone want to do that with all of the “mixing” options available. I owned an SL1 and a TTM56(not the most impressive mixer btw, it was so light it jumped all over the place when scratching) for about 3 years i guess. I sold it and now run a lot of different programs and enjoying playing music more than ever. Yes, if you are beginning and want to look like you know what you’re doing in front of people those handy side by side waveforms will mos def help you out, but i would still say Mixvibes is better for scratching. Stuff that sucks about serato, 1.needle drop only way to get to middle of track or mix(or scroll but that takes forever) in MV you just mouse click where you wanna go,2. non-customizable skin (And Believe me, after a while YOU WILL get tired of looking at that same screen), 3. well, like i said, you get bored with it easily, sometimes you just wanna sit down and play with music and serato isn’t for that. If you seriuos about it(djing), at some point you’re gonna want to move to something more flexible so why not start out there.
