HEELP! i want to get a dj system but dont have a computer! can i use my ipod?

i have an ipod and im thinking of using the djay app on ipod with a dj system but i dont want the numark idj live or any cheap thing like that, i want a real system like the hercules dj 4-mx. but will it be able to get enough power from my ipod to work with it? if not is there a power cored to plug into the wall that it comes with so i can dj with it? also i dont just want to mix, i want to beable to add sound effects too and would i be able to record my mixes?? PLEASE HELP:disappointed:

Get cdjs or tts?

whats that???

You could get two turntables Or two cdjs and a mixer… (cdjs are what they use in clubs, and major setups) but there are cheaper options that keep you away from a laptop…

But question… How do you have an iPod without an accessible computer? :open_mouth:

i have a home cp but no laptop. and i have just enough money to buy my equipment. so if i buy the hercules 4-mx ( [ame=“Amazon.com: Hercules DJ Console 4-MX : Musical Instruments”]Amazon.com: Hercules DJ Console 4-MX: Musical Instruments@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41yaXo739wL.@@AMEPARAM@@41yaXo739wL[/ame] ) could i connect that to my ipod and mix off of there??

I doubt it. (but don’t quote me on that), but I highly doubt it would work.

You need something that is iPod compatible, or get a laptop, or just use your desktop for the time being and get a laptop later?

You can do it with just an iPod and the DJ app, but it’ll be tough. You’ll need one of these cables.

ok are there any ipod/ipad compatable devices you would reccomend?

i want to use a controller, not just the app

Get a decent set of headphones something along the lines of the Sony MDR7506 are pretty good. I really don’t know anything about the controllers you can hok an ipod to.

Numark IDJ 3 looks alright, or a numark mixdeck I think it’s called.

i really need some help on this guys

are you sure it can be used with an ipod?

Sounds like you need to do a lot more of your own research. If you can’t figure out something basic like whether a Numark Mixdeck works with an iPod, you’re going to really struggle when it comes time to actually learning how to DJ. Try Googling some stuff.

Your only option is to get the Numark IDJ Live and use that as a controller. Other wise instead of getting the 4-MX get a cheaper laptop with good enough specs and a cheaper controller like the Numark Mixtrack Pro. Honestly, the IDJ Live is good enough if you’re only going to do house parties. It’s portable and very fun to use and it actually has quite a few features on it. I bought one for my friend with an ipad and it a lot of fun. However, if you’re trying to get into club gigs you’ll have to learn how to use higher end gear. Like dual citizen said, you need to do a lot more research on what you want.

Oh by the way, I actually found another option for you if you have two ipods…

There are some very affordable laptops on the market today… with minimum specs you can get away with very little money spent

You know. Just reading this.

The Stanton SCS 4 DJ might be up your alley. I know people have mixed reviews about it. But for $500, and you don’t need a laptop? That’s pretty sweet.

It really depends on your budget.

The next best option for DJing WITHOUT a laptop is more expensive. Finding a pair of used CDJ-400’s or CDJ-800’s should run roughly $400 each (give or take depending on the deal you could get). Between that and a mixer, you’re looking at close to $1000 once everything is said and done.

What it comes down to is that this is not an inexpensive hobby. Good things cost big money.

Having a laptop/computer definitely helps a ton on this aspect. But, if you’re looking for basic mixing without a laptop, the stanton thing is worth taking a look at in my opinion. I don’t see many other viable options without having a computer involved while keeping the price low.

This.

thats it!! Thanks sooo much bro i really appreciate it
