I’m looking for a basic ipod mixer that isn’t numark.
Just something very entry level, some basic effects, two decks. Everything you’d expect on a mixer.
It’s for a friend, they literally just want something to bring in the car or whatever, plug their headphones and ipod into, and mess around.
The IDJ2 requires an Ipod classic/old shuffle or old mini’s (which have been long discontinued).
The IDJ live is probably the best feeling ipod “controller” there is out there.
Behringer’s new cmd micro is coming out shortly and looks reasonably decent as well, but with any ipod controller you’ll be restricted to mono outputs via a splitter as there is only one soundcard (that I know of) and no software capable of dual stereo outputs from an Ipod/Pad
I’m guessing you are using an ipod touch to run the software or do you need a completely standalone unit with a nano or something?
A usb drive based controller would probably be a better bet than restricting yourself to an ipod one given the low price of USB drives and low availability of a decent ipod mixer.
Max budget is about 300, and i don’t like that particular dj tech mixer due to lack of touch sensative jogs.
I was looking at suggesting the i-mix reload mk 2.

You want to many features in a product considering what you actually want the product for. My final suggestion, invest in Traktor and a proper controller.
That controller doesn’t work without being hooked up to a computer.
Maybe you should look into a Stanton SCS.4DJ… They work with USB drives or smartphones independently of software/laptop, but they also have midi capabilities so you can control software via USB. Used they are about $300 but new I’ve seen them as low as $400.
