Rapid Evolution has an amazing ‘mixout’ function where you can save your mixouts. I was going to use RE alongside Itch but it’s too much fiddling around on the computer. I wish Itch had this functionality.
I’ve started storing them in a spreadsheet and then writing a * in the comments field so I know I’ve stored a mixout but it’s pretty time consuming!!!
ewwwww - I know too many people who do this. You might as well bung a iPod in the corner
I use the comments section of the mp3 myself - two sections, what comes in well, what goes out well, and sometimes even the track marker that I should start the mixout on …
#1 is probably the most important. I create short playlists with tracks that I know work together. Then I mix from playlist to playlist according to mood.
yes, i have groups of 3-4 songs i know work well but by all means no set is written in stone. where it really helps is when i run across one of the thoes tunes while in a mix because you know it will work real well for the next 15-20 mins and can focus on whats going on down the line
I have a little spreadsheet that I, for a while at least, was filling out while practicing. It’d tell me which songs went into other songs and such… The thing is I rarely use it. When a set is going well, the power of the groove takes over and I always seem to know exactly which track to bring in next. I will rely on it from time to time though if I’m not sure where to go with a mix.
I think it comes down to knowing your songs, setting cue points, making the occasional note, and practicing!
I write my playlists down on paper and write notes next to them..I know I could do this on my mac with stickies but when I’m mixing I try to strictly stay in traktor and not mess around with other stuff to avoid any chance of crashing
‘Trainspotter’ (freeware) has a function where it checks your history & writes the tracks you’ve mixed together & the # of times you’ve done it, in the traktor ‘mix’ field.
When you do a search on a song, the songs you have mixed them with comes up.
