How to differentiate Traktor A10 MK1 & MK2 without opening the box?

How to differentiate Traktor A10 MK1 & MK2 without opening the box?

I’m looking for an A10 on ebay and asked some sellers if the item is MK1 or MK2, but they don’t seem to discover it.

One told me that it comes with “Scratch Control Vinyl MK2”, therefore the soundcard must be MK2 too, is that true?

How do I differentiate MK2 from MK1 just looking at the box?

I want it to be bus powered, so it makes all the difference to me.

Thanks.

Based on this review, it appears that the “MK2” has “MK2” written on the sticker on the bottom.

i think it’s impossible to know which audio interface inside the box. there will be definitely MK1 if box with old design, in new design boxes could be MK2 & MK1 inside.

Mk2 vinyl has been around forever, this can’t be a valid argument.

Tough call… I can’t see a noticeable difference at all. I have the MK1 I know that for sure since it’s a few years old but the MK2 in the DJTT store is literally the same.

I had an MK1 and an MK2. Both didn’t have the sticker on the bottom and looked completely identical. The only way to tell was bus power.

Oh wow I had no idea. That’s pretty cool.

Yes, that’s the only improvement the MK2 brought and why it was an under the radar upgrade.

MK2 vinyl was introduced when the original Audio 6 and 10 launched, only the Audio 4,8 and older Scratch kits included MK1 vinyl.

Thanks for the help.

Just bought it from DJTT Store instead

The box for the mk2 looks like this

The box for the mk1 is more yellowish than red.

The sticker on the bottom of the A10mk2 looks like this:

The mk2 is louder than the mk1, runs of usb power, but it does come with the wall transformer, it also works with Traktor DJ.

Thanks!
So the MK1 box must be this one:

I no longer need this info, as I just bought it, but you may just have solved the puzzle (even NI states that it is not possible to diferentiate both items just by looking at the boxes). Maybe this will help someone else in a near future.

Anyone to confirm MK2 box is red and MK1 box is yellow?

The mk2 has been out a couple of years now, so there might not be any new mk1’s left. I got mine when they first came out. GC marked down the A10 to $350, so I paid $350. They couldn’t tell the difference either, so they gave me a mk2 by mistake. I didn’t even know there was a mk2 version out until I saw the sticker on the bottom that said mk2. At the time, I don’t think GC knew there was a mk2 version out either, so they just grabbed the first box and gave it to me.

this mk1 mk2 thing drives me crazy, they should simply add MK2 to the box and to the top of the audio card.
