I’m currious how to make this off beat bass?

I have sylenth1, it sound like a bass guitar but it sustain with no decay…
Any tips?
try a saw tooth with a sinewave 
bring the cutoff down until you get a tight sound, low release and decay, and sidechain it with a compressor. that might do the trick
