How to Map Traktor to APC40 mk2 LED Knob in Dumb Mode
Hey everyone,
I’m having a really hard time getting much info on the APC40 mk2 and custom mapping the device. I’m currently working on a simple mapping which features 2 decks, VU meters for each deck, etc. However when trying to map the output of say FX Unit 1’s first knob, I cannot figure out how to make it turn on the LEDs and work in volume mode. I have the knob on my APC controlling the knob I assigned it to in Traktor, however the LEDs remain off.
Maybe this thread can turn into a source for other APC40 mk2 mapping tips.
Hi,
First of all, I have zero xp with that device. But. If the MK2 is anything like MK1 you will need to open Ableton first and then fire up the Traktor in order to have APC to properly refresh the LED output.
This might help or might not… Let me know what happens, I’d like to know so I can use it as a reference when this question pops up again in the Forums. ( I know it will )
Not quite, regular mode worked pretty well once Traktor fixed the absurd CPU usage when using Send Monitor state in the early versions of Traktor 2.
Might not be the easiest to digest but you have everything you need here: APC40 MK2 Communications Protocol, page 23 onwards explains how encoder rings work. Btw, you’ll want to keep this handy to convert from Hex to the CC values you’ll see in Traktor (e.g.: 0x10=CC16)
