Hows my dj setup?
As I’m getting back into it. Here’s my dj setup plan
Traktor s4 (ordering this week. Not buying it used)
2 technic 1200 mk2 with m447 carts
Later I plan to buy a used dj mixer like a vestax pmc 06 or something. Then upgrading to traktor 2 for the dvs system. I already have a license for traktor scractch pro. Then getting the audio 10 or 6 as backup for the s4 for gigging. Question should I look at the numark tx usb turntables to replace my. Technics? What do you think?
Why the vestax pmc 06?
tbh, I’d still with the 1200’s rock solid, and where a club has tables 99% of the time it’ll be them, so they’ll be familiar.
Sounds good, but I have no clue why you’d want to get an analogue mixer with the S4, it would just complicate things. I would stick to the Technics if possible.
rane mixers are awesome, if you can find a second hand ttm56/56s go for them
they are built like a tank and would last a lifetime

Agree. S4 already has a great mixer and you really dont need the analogue. other than that good setup.
Honestly I’d say go the other way. Get a real mixer.
I don’t really see the point in going for the s4 when using turntables. It limits you to internal mixing, makes you rely on your laptop, introduces latency and unnecessary conversion when using real vinyl etcetc.
+1 get a mixer over the s4 and just add an x1

What if I go out of state for a gig? For some spots that I’ve researched they don’t have technics. You bring your own stuff. I’ve been doing my homework and calling clubs etc. Just to see what they have. I don’t know… I just thought I would have the techs as a backup if the s4 gives out. Imagine having gigs lined up and the s4 breaks or something. It takes 3 or 4 weeks for repair. By having the audio 10 or 6 I have my backup. Just thinking the worst case scenarios that could happen if the s4 dies.
Just burn some CDs and use the players at the club?
Alternatively use use your laptop and the mixer in the club with an audio 2 or whatever. Get a cheap controller like a korg nano something if you’re really fussed but I’d just use the keyboard.
I don’t see why you’d use technics to replace an S4. Were you planning to beat match with the s4? Honestly I don’t think it’s really suited to it. Techs and the S4 are really not designed to do the same sorta things.
Hey con, I have a traktor 1 license when purchasing the audio 8. The upgrade to 2 is 79 dollars. When getting the s4, can the traktor 2 license be used as the upgrade from my traktor 1 license? Or is the dvs system and s4 licenses completely different?
If you buy an S4 you get a traktor pro 2 licence and currently it seems they are giving newly registered owners a free upgrade to traktor scratch pro 2.
May as well just sell your traktor pro 1 licence it seems.
little bit confused as to what your asking but here goes:
If you buy an s4 this month (NI has a deal on) then you get a scratch license free, including control vinyl. When you get the s4 you’ll have the software outright, you wouldnt need to have it as an upgrade. I would suggest selling the tsp1 license once you have the s4 (traktor scratch pro 2) as you’ll have no need for it.
