I need a new controller to control Decks C and D. Recommendations?
Whats up guys. Im currently using traktor pro w/ vci-100 and a nanopad. But i want to fully control decks C and D. Im looking to add another midi controller for under $200 hopefully. holla at me with suggestions. thanks DJTT community
Hmmm, you can use 2 controllers for one bit of software? I have an Oxygen 8 - little usb/midi controller/keyboard from M-Audio. Until I can afford a VCI, its going to be my learning controller. Likely I’ll use it with the VCI once I go mobile. They make a dj controller, albiet without a jog wheel, called a X-session Pro and its under $150.
As others have said, if you can find a store you can try stuff out and see what you like!

i think the x-session pro can for had for $100 if you look around. and it would give you volume, pitch, transport, eq, and efx of two more decks! pretty much everything except jogs.
that was my first midi-controller, and i learned a ton with it before upgrading, and it never failed me.
The akai lpd8 is a good choice
There are also good mappings for the Korg Nano Kontrol, actually a lot of them, especially if you already have a Nano Pad that should sort you out.
I had it as an extra Controller with the Total Control. The only thing that bugged me was that the faders are way too short and the knobs are very small and the layout is horizontal, so you might experience a bit of tactile confusion.
thanks for the replys. hah yeah i still dont know what to get. the nanokontrol seems logical cuz of the size but i agree with you about the small knobs and switches. the x session pro is more of what im looking for. I basically need another vci-100 minus the jog wheels (kinda useless) but cheaper! so x session pro maybe. any other suggestions. just something to control volume, pitch, transport, eq, and efx of decks C and D
vcm-100 would go really well with the vci-100 - but maybe you don’t need the built-in soundcard.
yeah i already got a soundcard. ni audio 4. i do like how it is set up though. too bad its pricey

second hand x- session plus a smallish unit a la LPD or NK to centralize the fx.
If size is not an issue your budget should also buy you the cheaper Numark types like Total Control. They don’t come anywhere near the VCIs but they have a nice endless rotary section for fx and some jogs which work good enough for a littlebit of pitch bending.
Also Behringer BCDs or Hercules consoles can be found dirt-cheap second hand.
