What controller to choose?

What controller to choose?

Hi im currently using TSP, 2 Technics decks and a DJM600. Im looking to buy a simple midi controller that I can use while on vacation, just sitting with my lap top in the sofa or going away to friends abroad without having to bring 30 kilos of gear.

I`ve been looking at the VCI 300 from Vestax, some Numark products and Hercules.

I play mostly minimal techno and im no beat jugler or scratch artist. I want to be able to mix comfortably on the midi board and I dont want to buy another external soundcard.

What do you think is the best product for my use?

The reloop digital jockey has received good reviews thus far…

Also I have been eying the dj tech pro i-mix reload!

both less than half the price of the vci 300.

m audio xponent

VCI-100 w/firmware 1.3 (FTW)

1 midi controller, alot of knobs, fabers, pots. Plus its bulit like a tank and you can get custom skins.

Dont you need an extra soundcard if you want head phone cueing with the VCI 100?

Yup .. you need a soundcard full stop if you want to use it.

Well you could use your internal one but would be a bit rubbish but then again i guess your only using it whilst sofa’d out or on hols not liek blasting ouit over big rig! But even doing this you wouldnt be able to cue unless you converted the 1 x stereo into 2 monos.

And also: Should I use the LE version of Traktor that usually comes with the midi controller or can I use Traktor Scratch Pro which I allready own?

For me it will be a middle of the following:

  • BCR2000 (Love it for the versatility and durability)
  • Akai APC 40 (Not tested it yet, but boy…)
  • Numark NS7 or Stanton SCS.1d

But being that you’re more into minimal, why not go for controllers like:

  • Xone1D
  • Akai APC40
  • Evolution UC33e
  • Or even the Behringer BCR2000.

Traktor Pro

I need jog wheels Tekki!!

Why would you need jogwheels than?

well if anything, i say Numark Omni Controll wich has built in soundcard, or Stealth Controll same thing but black and without soundcard, i like the digital jockey and or i mix reload MK II, but i can’t find those to buy anywere…

Jesus here we go.

LOLz… Still envying the little beast.

Just marking what can be used by minimal DJs, pachuco.

Im still in the market for something small, i just got the axiom 25 but its huge, maybe a nano pad or nano kontrol would be nice to have.

btw tekki hablas español?

FADERFOX DX2.

If you dont need jog wheels and you want lots of features in a small unit that wouldnt break if you drop kicked it off Mount Lukens its the beast for you.

Id rather lose a testicle than my DX2:smiley:

tru, kinda pricey for the faderfox, but it gets the job done

I just bought a Novation Nocturn for 100bucks.

Simple, Small, with lots of possibilities.

 Nocturn

For use with what software.

@JesC , yeah the DX2 is pricey but you get so much in it and its so simple to map and use. Its not usb so you can midi it into your Audio 8, runs on batterys and fits into a setup/booth anywhere. Im considering a VCI 100 maybe we should do a swap-and-learn:wink:
