In the year 2000… just want to be sure I get the credit when this is common

me: oh, i played 1979 too
smashing pumpkins

Benjamin: hey cool!
that’s a fun song
super positive.

me: I really wanted the crystal method mix but I lost it
though about downloading it during the set
but that’s crazy talk (in 2010)

in 2020, people will IM the tacks to the DJ for requests
bet you!

Benjamin: hahaha totally..

me: totally

Benjamin: that actually simplifies things alot.
i think it would be awesome to have a live-internet connection while you DJ
grab songs off beat-port to throw into the set.
for a wedding dj it would great.. if you get a request that’s not in your collection.

me: yup… totally going to happen

I’d like to set up that club night

iClub for iPhone app $20
no app… no requests

Benjamin:

Year 2000 came and went 10years ago dude. Pretty disappointing as the world didnt stop due to Y2K bug.

Ive been downloading requests at my gigs for a few years now.

Also, its actually illegal to use iTunes downloads for pubic performance so i dont see Apple approving an app that does it.

Jus sayin.

Welcome To The Forum Mike:slight_smile:

way to change the world thomas edison.

If I owned a bar I’d try my best to supply an enormous library of pop music from the 20th century in 320k mp3 on an in-house dedicated server for DJs. Organized, tagged, and searchable.

Sounds like a serial and expensive undertaking, but I’d consider it a really wise business investment.

I’d kiss the bar/club manager if I ever ran into that.

not exactly what you want, but it’s close..

http://the.warehou.se/page/techinfo.html

So all I have to do is provide you a giant server full of music and a bar and you’ll kiss me?

I’ll be right back…

That booth gear list is absolutely disgusting. Must be nice to work there. Wonder what that Ableton and Traktor server business is all about. Google tiemz.

The kiss thing is a bluff. Actually I’ll kiss anyone for any reason, Jojo.

the year 1992: One day while contemplating his vinyl record collection.

me: Man I wish I could see what was on the record!
friend: Exhaling a cloud of smoke! That would be dope man!

In the year 2000… just want to be sure I get the credit when this is common Reply

me: i was thinking of replying:

"me: hahaha

now we just need the guys who invented the crossfader and looping."

what do you think?

Benjamin: sure. tha’d be funny.

me: alternate: dude you remember '92:

maybe no reply…

1979 just came on!

*Exhaling a cloud of smoke!

Is this a riddle…

an app you’re buying directly from the DJ - and you have to get a new version for every party… of course there will be grace periods and other discounts for loyal upgraders

not in the UK if you have a Pro Dub License from MCPS

Dude its more compicaated that than im afraid.

ProDub is for the use of MP3s used for DJing, thats true. But the iTunes agreement states that iTunes downloads cannot be used for 'Public Performance" or “Commercial Purposes”. The ProDub licence cannot overrule the host companies licence.

What you must do is burn it to CD. Any music burnt to cd can be played in Public. You then have to reimport it to play it as MP3 and thats where the ProDub licence comes in. It allows you to transfer CD to MP3 and then use the MP3 in a commercial way.

Sucks dont it.

Ah right, i dont use itunes so wasnt aware of that clause. i use cdpool, beatport and mastermix digital

yeah its a total head melter! technically if you burn your mp3’s to audio cd’s you still need the license. a very grey area still

Yeah mate it makes no sense whatsoever . Just another way of stiffing DJs.

So realistically if I make an MP3 copy of the AAC from iTunes I’m not breaking that part of the agreement?
(Got such a headache this morning, drinking on a school night never good)

Your allowed to burn an iTunes playlist up to 7 times.
How random is that…!!!

Apple iTunes developement meeting:

“how many times shall we let them burn playlists?”

“Chuck a dart at the dart board and see what fate wants”

“It’s a 7?”

“Fair enough”
