Inappropriate DJ/Producer Name??

Inappropriate DJ/Producer Name??

I decided to get a Logo made for a name I’ve been toying with for a bit. The name is “BedHeaded” Which is a play on words between Bedhead and Beheaded. I’m a bit gloom and doom and suffer from insane cases of bedhead. I asked for the logo to incorporate a Guillotine style blade into the letter H. After 5 days I got a request to terminate the order and a note saying that what i’m looking for is not something he agrees with. Is the name really that inappropriate? It feels like all the good producer/DJ names are already taken so it’s INCREDIBLY hard to find something that feels original so it’s not something I want to immediately ditch. Views and opinions?

Holy wow who did you ask to do your logo? A priest? I don’t really see anything crazy about it.

get a new artist…

+1 sounds like an awesome logo can be made

I totally agree, you can make an awesome logo with that idea! Just need to find a new artist. :stuck_out_tongue:

P.s., shy, totally forgot about you. Getting that file ready…

Seriously tho you would think an artist would be open to interpreting this design in a more open manner..

Back on topic guys

Thanks to everyone who offered some insight into this even if it got a little sidetracked. I think I’m just great at picking names without completely thinking them through, “Professor Ex” being my last one. I won’t force an artist to make something he isn’t comfortable with, nor will I leave negative feedback for his choice.

This thread really shows the DJtechtools community from its best side…
What the fuck, racism has no place anywhere. But especially not in the music world which totally lives of diversity, open-mindedness and multiculturalism…

BTT: I think its just a shitty name and I am sure you will regret the choice sooner or later.

Again, please stick to the original topic. DJTT is not the place to discuss these matters and any racist/hate comment made below this post will get the user a time off.

Thanks for your input “Sheikyerbouti” do you speak from experience?

I’m actually a little confused as to what happened. Did you find this guy on the internet or locally? Did he have any objections to it before he originally agreed to do it? Was there a contract for the work? I take it no money had passed between you both. I’m assuming he is a professional that makes a living doing this sort of thing rather than an art student just trying to make a few extra quid or have something for his portfolio?

I’m one of these people that thinks if he accepted the work, he should do it. His personal feeling shouldn’t trump his professionalism. However, this is the real word, and people have a habit of acting like people. There is a possibility that, from a purely professional angle, he isn’t keen on doing it because of possible reactions from other clients should they find out about it - it does happen.

While I don’t think your chosen name or design sounds particularly extreme or distasteful ( a little off-colour perhaps, and not something I would choose myself) You can’t assume that other people’s reactions aren’t going to be stronger. The fact is beheadings have been prominent in the news over the last couple of years, and people get queasy real easily these days.

I don’t think you have told us whether you have attempted to talk to him to find out what the problem is. My advice is do that and if you still can’t find a way forward call it quits and go somewhere else. If what you have told us is right then I think he simply doesn’t want to do the job.

Personally, I think leaving negative feedback, although deserved for his lack of professionalism, is probably counter productive. Best to chalk one up to experience and move on. However, if this is some guy you found online and just sent a brief to out of the blue with no discussion (EG: Hi my name is Bedheaded, can you do me a logo with a blade on it? Thanks!’ then he is perfectly within his rights to say no.

Edit: I have ABSLOLUTELY no idea what a bedhead is.

Terrible name, especially given the current deplorable activities that ISIS is engaged in. Change it…

I could see where an artist wouldn’t want to be associated with that image given the current news items that have happened, and if you’re going to be passing around a card with your logo, etc. people might ask who did it, blah blah blah. But really, the artist should have never accepted the work if that was the case.

And regarding the name, I would have never put 2 + 2 together to get anything about well, be-heading. But I don’t think much either.

Bed head haha if you have long hair or umm frizzy? When ya wake up and it’s all over the place much like if you had gel in your hair and wake up next morning?

Lack of showers, etc.

I get mine from showering and then sleeping with hair that’s anything but COMPLETELY dry. I could post the entire conversation between us but i’d blank out the name as I’m not trying to loose him any business. Several forum members have used him and been very pleased.

After talking with you guys I accepted the 5th mutually cancellation of the order. FYI if you mutally cancel a order you’re unable to leave negative feedback which I feel is what he was pushing for REALLY hard.

I’ll make you one - $500
