I was wondering if there is an adapter to connect 2 mics into the Traktor s4 without using an external mixer? I DJ wedding receptions and I have a wireless and a wired mic. When the wedding party is giving their speeches I have to pull out the wireless mic then connect my wired so I can make my announcements.
It’s a bit too much to reduce the master volume disconnect the mic then put in a different mic then raise the volume back to the original level and talk. I obviously reduce the volume before a pull the mic out to prevent the “pop” when it’s disconnected.
If I have to I can connect an external mixer but I can barely fit the equipment I have in my car.
Your wireless mic should have a Line-level output which you can use through the S4’s “C” input. Setting the appropriate deck to “Live Input” will let you use EQ, gain, and faders on your mic channel.
The standard S4 mic connection for wired mics has a gain control too. Traktor’s deck gains go to -∞ so you shouldn’t be able to hear the pop at all with the gain turned down.
For the wired mic the gain is in the back which isn’t very convenient. So there is no way to control the eq on a mic or level on line C or D? Besides just using the gain on the back for a wired mic?
Another question when using a wired mic using the mic volume doesn’t do anything because the level is set by the mic gain dial on the back of the unit. With a wireless mic w/ a line level output would the mic volume knob on the front of the unit work then?
The Mic knob is only for controlling a mic wired to the mic port. A wireless mic will act like any other line source, and can be routed to one of Traktor’s decks using the Input Routing settings and Live Input mode.
Using a wired mic will disable the “D” line input, so you have to use the “C” input for your wireless mic.
I think i got so confused because there are different ways to set the level on a wired mic from a wireless. I’m glad you brought this up because I was really confuused
When you say the mic knob are you referring to the Mic Gain knob on the back of the controller or the Mic Volume knob located on the front of the controller. Because the Knob Volume doesn’t work when I have a wired mic plugged in.
