Mic on s4

Mic on s4

ran into problems trying to get mic to wrok on S4…" )
could some one help me out with with trying to get the mic working…

Plug Mic in to deck D, make sure the switch is on line, turn up gain knob on back. Change deck D in software to live input. Turn up mic volume on front to the right of the headphone volume control. Turn switch on mic to on. Talk into mic.
Can’t remember, but you may have to go into preferences to input routing and select the input for deck D. I know you have to for hooking up IPod, cd player, etc

you don’t have to turn deck d into a live input.

go into settings>input routing
then at the bottom (aux)
set it to deck d.
and there ya go

…but if you do assign it as a Live Input deck you can use the EQ on the mic and use the channel fader for the mic volume.

true.. and the s4 has a gain on the back and another gain on the front for the mic. so, no need to use the channel fader for volume

Making deck D a live input enables you to use Fx on the mic also. So it just depends on how you want to use it.
The OP started another thread anyway. He really wanted to know about the S2 and a mic.

Thats true, but i use it so i can easily access the volume of the Mic cus i find the knobs to fiddly and at one of my student gigs i do a lot of shout outs.
Ive also mapped the Cue button on Channel D to Hi/Mid/Lo Kill (Global/Hold) which acts as a Mic Talk-Over button rather than lowering the volume fader on track thats playing.
Works a treat.

Damn fine idea! Going to have to do that myself.

@ unclejessie

Thank you for your post, I’ve been struggling on figuring out how to use the mix without using deck D as the input. You have made my night! I thank you sir!!

You would not have a mapping for this by any chance?

It’s 3 very simple functions, why not go into Controller Manager and have a try?

Because I have no idea what to do and no time to learn it by Saturday as I have to do my radio show remotely hence using the s4 instead of the djm[quote=“makar1, post:11, topic:32881, username:makar1”]
