Laidback Luke backspin?

So I was watching this vid

and at 0.05 Luke does a backspin with a strange effect. Can anyone tell me what effect he’s using?

sounded like a beatmasher, link to the jog wheels to reduce the size of the clip. But I really couldn’t tell with all DEM WAK kids, J/K. Sorry thats a joke here in L.A. for DIM MAK. Why dont you hit that dj up on myspace or something, I sure he’ll tell you.

probably an echo and then backspin with the scratch function of the cdj 1000?

laidback luke is not using software afaik
