Well, cheesy helmet stuff like the OP suggested I also loathe. But I’m seriously considering finally trying out if I can get used to in-ear-monitors during gigs just to have the possibility to wear crazy hats while playing
I mean: pith helmet, tinted sunglasses, acapulco shirt - I just have to DJ looking like Raoul Duke somewhen

Kinda cybergothy, but it looks fucking rad with leds in them. he also replaced the filter fabric with flourecent fabrick and mounted UV-leds inside the filter. Looks absoutley fantastic if you’re in to the whole rave-look.

I have yet to try the goggle-headlights. I have a friend that wears standard forehead mounted light when in an unknown club (when we mix b2b, he switches it from white to red). He just recently swapped it with neck-light.
IMO, mask is an interesting addition if you do find something comfortable and most of all original/interesting.
Not everyone needs it, but having something to make you stand out and let people remember you is MORE than beneficial for networking, and making that impression.
If helmet’s are your thing, then why not I suppose.
Just like with anything, taken with a slice of intelligent thought never hurts. Being the guy with giant green balloon on your head isn’t going to win you any prizes, but having a unique article can make people remember it, and you through it.
