[Mac:Traktor Pro\Ableton\SunFlower] Audio Routing Traktor into Ableton

Hi,

I made, independently, a video tutorial to the “Smart Mixing Traktor into Ableton - 4 Mac”-Posting here on DJ TechTools.

It uses the same technique Nico describes but instead of JACK i’m using SoundFlower from Cycling74.

I hope you like it.

I so wish i could watch vids awork :disappointed:

Nice one! Looking forward to try it out.

Could you provide at DL link for the SoundFlower app? Is it FreeWare?

Thanks Bento! Fast Service ftw!

sounds cool can’t wait til I get home (and get another memory stick 1 gig is not enough!)

wow, great video cheers!

just added this into the “FAQ- Recommended threads and blog posts”

Thanks for your contribution to the community dude

kickass! i got it working in less than 10 or 15 minutes. now only if i knew how to use ableton :-x

cool, are you using “Spaces” to flip back n forth between programs?

is this mac only ?

yes this is geared @ Mac only

Boooooooooo

so no way of getting it to work other than manually beat matching on pc still ?

Theres nothing your missing out on by running a PC - midi sync isnt that crash hot no matter what system your using. For routing audio on the PC theres the choice or JackDmp and VirtualAudioCable. Lets not hijack this topic with any more pc talk though.

is this also possible with two mac books?

Yeah but you need two soundcards, then plug them into one another - one connected to one laptop, one connected to the other laptop. This tutorial is for getting them running both on the same pc which is really a much more practicle approach for the mobile musician.

GREAT Video.

2 things I wanted to address which may help.

  1. When you speak about selecting something, you may want to zoom into it as it hard to see on a YouTube vid.

  2. This I believe you have setup for total output from Traktor. You may want to show (up to you anyway) how you can send from each channel separately to use effects on those channels only.

Seriously, great vid!

Should be noted this isnt smartmixing - this is simplly audio routing.
Smartmixing is the use of crossband compressors to take over some of the jobs of EQing.

Can I assume from the existence of this thread that Traktor is not a ReWire audio source?

Thats correct.
