Mapping hotcues to your midi controller in Traktor Pro

Hi All,

I’m still pretty new to Traktor/MIDI. I have been having problems trying to map hotcues to my controller (MPD18), but I’ve finally figured it out. I thought I would share in case this would help anybody else. Also, if you have any hints/tips/tricks/corrections for mapping please help me out and let me know:

  1. Open Preferences & go to Controller Manager

  2. Select “Generic MIDI” in the Device Drop Down

  3. Click “Add In”

  4. Go to “Cue/Loops” and select “Select/Set+Store Hotcue”

  5. Click “Learn” and press the button on your controller where you want to store Hotcue #1

  6. Under “Button Options” set the value to HotCue 1

  7. Then you can click “Duplicate”, press the Hotcue #2 button on your controller, and change the “Button Option” value to HotCue 2

  8. Repeat for HotCue 3 and HotCue4 (or map all 8 HotCues if you want)

I hope that makes sense. If not, in the Traktor Manual (doc ver 1.3) check pages 158 & 159.

i just mapped my apc 40 using your directions, thanks a bunch. I’ve been doing ok mapping it on my own but I couldn’t figure out which selection activated hotcues.

next step now is getting the button to light up green when there is an hotcue available in the slot, and red when empty…

Will that work with the Maschine too? I have other mappings but they are alot different from what it came with. ie can i change the mappings I have?

Thank you
Chris aka DJ Panic

Make sure you select the correct Deck also.

I’m using traktor duo with a nanopad and the preferences seem to be a little different. Can anyone help?

this is just what i needed thanks alot

do post when you get something like that figured out.

I mapped almost everything in traktor pro to APC40.
I did not try but if you want led feedback on your apc for hotcues try like this.

In the controller-manager ad OUT “Select/Set+Store Hotcue” then select note of button/led on your apc.
then in Controller-Range set
min:-1 max-1 for hotcue 1
min:0 max-0 for hotcue 2
and so on…
in the midi-range set min:3 (for light up red) an max:1 (for light up green)
it should work..

on that way i set loop size led-feedback on APC button matrix.
If you need some more advice about mapping traktor to APC, just ask

Thanks a bunch for this, I appreciate it.

But is there any way to map the LEDs so the color changes depending on the track currently loaded into the deck?

What do you want? To have different light if there is track loaded or not loaded in the deck?
