NO NO NO NO just bought a MKII four months ago ![]()
Believe it or not, Iâm on the fence about this one.
Itâs not like it wonât work.
Looks nice but I still think I made the right decision by switching my MK1 for Push ![]()
Yes, youâre mostly right. But the thing that really grates is the fact that you donât know with NI whatâs coming up. they are so closed about their product development and they have been completely silent about maschine for a year, except for some expansion packs and some promo vids. I know new stuff will always come out and your gear gets outdated, but the MKII is a year old, I find it lacking in respect to your base who have allready payed a lot of money, to keep em in the dark like that. sure, noone is is forcing me to buy the new one, but I was under the impression that I was paying for something that would be a standard piece of gear for some time to come. had I known that this was coming I would have waited a while longer and not bought a mkII plus audio interface (wich is integrated in this one it seems).
so yeah, itâs mostly a hindsight thing.
EDIT : Also, if they made a modular addon, everyone could just add it to their existing setup. Now you either have to sell your old one and get a new one, or just buy it new and have a double software license and an spare small one lying around, either way, you lose more money, yay.
Interesting, as long as they keep supporting the MK1 Iâm happy with it.
These updates mostly seem mostly insignificant- you can get a used MK1 with software for under $200. $1000 can buy you some nice real hardware and open you up to a different worldâŚ
Very little equipment is relevant for very long now days.
johnny- the maschine studio doesnât look like a replacement to the mk2. I doubt it is being discontinued, itâs a completely different price point with some minor additional features.
mostly just controllers. other gear seems to have a much longer viable life and holds its value a lot longer.
Even my Motu audio interface came out over 10 years ago and is still supported and works great.
Yeah I know, they are supposed to co-exist like mikro, MKII, and then the studio. Iâm just annoyed because I would have paid, and I have nearly paid that amount (including external audio interface) for such a product and again NI is gonna come out of nowhere, announce and release it in a 2 week window or something. It just sucks if youâre the kind of person who has to make a lot of effort to save up some money, and are an absolute horror about making purchase discisions. Hey, I can always get 2.0 faceplates right? ![]()
Which is exactly why they didnât let you in on their plans.
Releasing new products isnât âdisrespectfulâ to those that already purchased products. Should they slow down innovation just to show you some respect? That would actually be unappealing to potential new customers, who are what keep NI in business.
I have an Audio 10. I have Maschine MK2. I have no use for Maschine Studio. Iâm happy. But Iâm glad this new Maschine is an available option. Why not have more choices?
Also, you have more options now since you own a Maschine and a separate audio interface. This can be an advantage, as you donât have to always have them linked together.
You misunderstand what I mean, I have no problem with them releasing new products. It is their lack of communication torwards their userbase that annoys me. This is how I feel, I donât claim itâs a fact.
As long as the hardware is compatible with the software updates, itâs not really a big deal. I like that Maschine is moving towards becoming a real DAW.
To johnnypepp:
I hear you, man. I know itâs annoying. But, unfortunately, itâs apparently profitable. They want to sell as much old product as possible before revealing their next release. Itâs a pretty common business model, actually (not that it makes it ok).
Damnit! Is this real? I was gonna upgrade soon and as a production thing I was gonna get a MK2 but now I canât because you need to have the newest things and be hip.
Not sure if I care, hell the mk2 wasnât enough to get me to switch from my mk1. Depending on the features Iâd probably only be a buyer if I sank some money into a decent desktop.
NI has stated on their own site that they plan on supporting the original Maschine for a very long time.
Built in interface!
Built-in stand.
Color display look dope and itâs got more dedicated buttons. Looks like the scene arranger now shows you how long each scene is visually:
Looks like Sweetwater was wrong about that according to the preview on this German website: Preview: Native Instruments Maschine Studio & Maschine 2 Software, Groove-Controller - AMAZONA.de
