MF Spectra + secondary remix deck controller question… will it work?
So i see the article has been published
Introducing The Midi Fighter Spectra
the Spectra is now a reality but.
i have only ONE question. Currently there is an issue connecting TWO midi fighters at the same time in Traktor Pro 2.6. or rather there is a problem when connection two midi devices that control REMIX DECK ( for example a F1 and a Midi Fighter 3D with remix deck firmware enabled)
I would love to get one of these this weekend or even TONIGHT as long as i know that we can use Traktor Pro 2.6 with MF3D + MF SPectra.
So whats the story?
wow great info
now…this is in light of the PM you sent me with that download link+ video . mapping the F1
I tried the setup you suggested, and it just didnt work for me (for some reason)
my F1 keeps acting REALLY slow and it keeps messing up the pages that show up when i click a SHIFT SIDE button on the 3d.
Now thats whats happening.
So i have to ask this question
Midifidler said this
If i was attempting to use 2 MF3D’s, could i do the same thing to assign them as a specific side DECK?
one ONLY C
one ONLY D
??
i was going to get the spectra but realized what was missing for my use
However, i wouldnt be opposed to a second MF3D
however since i have the conflict with the 3D + F1
i dont want to end up with the same conflict going 3D + 3D
I also have an MF3d and an F1 and don’t seem to have any issues running both together to control the remix decks. Can you explain your issue a bit better, so I can try and test it? What exactly are you doing with the 3d and the side buttons that isn’t working right? Are you using a certain mapping for the MF3d?
Probem does not exist when:
MF3D is not plugged in
Load a Remix Pack into the F1 deck:
When doing this while 3D is plugged in, the F1 pads to NOT light up with samples loaded
Shift Button:
Shift reacts as if its active for a split second. If i press it, all functions FLASH in shift and then quickly OUT of shift mode.
Triggering a sample pad:
The reaction time to trigger a sample is not instant, even with Quantize OFF and Punch turned ON.
When i press a pad, the sample either does not trigger ( so a second press is needed)
or i need to press and HOLD the pad to trigger a sample.
Slot Stop Buttons:
If i want to STOP a sample from playing, i would press the STOP buttons at the bottom of that column
but they do nothing when the 3D is plugged in.
I understand that is possible the F1 could have been in MIDI mode but thats not the case either
The F1 is reacting as if the 3D has authority over the (send / receive) of MIDI notes.
Look at the device list on top of the controller manager.
Are you using two separate default F1 mappings?
Each i/o ports assigned to a different device like Kontrol F1 and Kontrol F1 #2?
That way it should work.
Thanks Beau
this is what i have
apparently there are two listing for Kontrol F1 Mappings
i do not have either selected because i have YOUR mapping selected.
It seems there is one listed as
Kontrol F1 Default (NONE)
and one listed as
Kontrol F1 Default (Kontrol F1-2)
I think this is what you are talking about?
if so help me out here
any help on this one?
another screenshot maybe?
because i noticed last night for some reason, i opened traktor Pro
and there are now 3 listings for the F1 controller
strange
there are TWO for Kontrol F1 Default (NONE)
and ONE for Kontrol F1 Default (Kontrol F1-2)
i think that happened when i plugged it in again.. not sure why
ok so yea… what should each F1 mapping be I/O ported to?
think i found out whats going wrong here
I just tried to…
Delete the beaubryte from the drop down
then i plugged in my F1
restarted Traktor
ok F1 mapping is showing in the dropdown
Then i shut down traktor and did a FULL install of the beaubryte mapping via the Utility and Flashed my MF3D
Ok now i opened traktor and i used the SMALL import button to bring in the beaubryte mapping
but i still have a small problem.
I have samples loaded into a remix deck (C)
and on the 3D i am looking at Deck C
but the top 8 buttons are red
the bottom 8 buttons are alternating colors in Fx mode
ok so what im going to try to do is
Remove the beaubryte mapping
Export and remove the F1 mapping
then ill do a full FLASH of the 3D
import in the utility (3D)
then open traktor
add the beaubryte mapping via the LARGE import button
restart traktor
then ill use the SMALL import to bring in the F1 mapping
De red bars indicate the empty HotCue states of track decks.
This gives you a visual reference if a track is loaded into a deck when you switch banks.
It prevents bashing on buttons without hearing something.
So if you load a track into the correct deck, that bank will have all 16 buttons cycling.
If not, unplug and reconnect the mf3d again;
Maybe it needs to load midi mode one more time. It happens with more midi mappings while using the remix deck firmware.
2nd option: go to controller manager, at “devices” highlight the 3d mapping and delete it.
Re-import it the same way using the add… import button at the same menu.
You’re struggling quite some time now, hope you get it right real soon.
Your overall reset should like this:
Make a backup by pressing the big Export button at the bottom left in the preferences menu.
Check ALL boxes in the pop menu.
Disconnect all your devices.
Open Traktor. Go to controller manager. Add device click “edit”. Delete all your current mappings 1 by one
Close Traktor
Reconnect the MF3D (optional: hold the 2nd button from the top row while plugging it in)
Reconnect your F1
Reconnect your other devices
Restart Traktor
Import the MF3D All in one pack, The big button way, including controller and fx settings.
These i/o ports will connect to the 3d.
BOTH the MF3D Remix deck mapping and the native F1 will be loaded automatically when you start using it.
don’t add any other mappings for remix decks.
That’s all they’re is to it. It should work now.
Use the add.. import button at the controller manager to load your mappings for your other devices.
Load tracks or sets into all 4 decks for testing.
If conflicts occur, just try unplugging the 3D for a second and let it boot again.
If this doesn’t help, go to the automatically spawned F1 mappings, check all available ports.
Are the Kontrol F1 vs Kontrol F1 -2 setup right? If somethings seems wrong, restart Traktor.
If that doesn’t help, boot your MFD with one of the other three buttons from the top row held down.
If the midi mapping for the 3d is not correctly loaded you can try unplugging the 3D or do this radical step again: go to controller manager, at “devices” highlight the 3d mapping and delete it.. then import it again by clicking “Add..Import”
Thanks for the update beau
ill try that out tonight.
To shed some light on my previous comment
I have Decks C and D as REMIX decks
i have samples loaded into each slot / row of those decks
Now i did some fiddling around lastnight and was able to get all things working (F1 along side of 3D)
however this was the final result in what wasnt working right or didnt seem right.
The F1:
I was able to trigger all samples correclty,
even after moving the F1 to a USB hub.
I was also able to switch from C to D with the F1 with no problems.
Ok so thats taken care of. No more problems with the F1 and if i do end up with an issue, i remember how to correct the F1.
Now onto the 3D:
With Samples loaded into C and D
and looking at a REMIX DECK page on the 3D i can see all the sample colors.
I can trigger the samples
I can trigger FX on the samples. Now that part works.
What didnt work:
From a “DECK PAGE” on the 3D, i want to get to an FX page
so i press side button 3
If i am on Deck A or B i can see all RGB buttons cycling.
IF i am on Deck C or D i see the 8 rgb buttons on top are red. (again i have them set as remix decks)
Now that USED To work was:
While in Remix Deck Mode ( side button #6 )
i was able to switch focus from C to D and back but i cant do that anymore.
Pressing the appropriate button does… nothing (button #4 for C and Button #5 for D) but now it doesnt switch focus.
Now the one thing that i noticed from the start was
i can only assign my MF3D as Deck D. I cant even force it to be used on Deck C no matter what i do with the F1 plugged in.
Next time when i plug in my F1, im going tell it to assign to Deck D while its 4 buttons are flashing on power up.
I tried this with the 3D when its 4 buttons flashed in the corner but it didnt work that way. I got locked up
Again… ill try the above suggestions tonight and see what happens
ok so i thnk i found out what the problem is. And bascially its my Powered HUB.
For some reason… and i think its a POWER issue,
my HUB just wont cut it having
S4
Mouse
F1
MF3D
all plugged into it. Yes it is an older one and not a TOP shelf model. its an old D-LINK hub and works great
but not with this stuff on it
It seems that everything works just fine if i have the 3D and S4 in the HUB while the F1 is directly into the laptop.
