Happy to announce we are alpha testing the next version of the MFU and Twister firmware. It’s quite a big change despite the minor version number.
If you are interested in testing these before public release let us know in this thread and we’ll contact you when the beta opens.
Utility 2.91
Upgraded to Qt 6.8.3 framework (macOS + Windows)
Fix build, runtime, and compatibility issues
Remove single-device assumptions internally
Introduce per-device session model (behind the scenes)
MFU detects a device in bootloader mode and offers recovery options
Bank navigation synced between unit and utility
MFU now reads unit settings consistently on load
Responsive Light/Dark mode on macOS
Settings no longer need multiple clicks to be edited
Vectorized icons for better rendering on high DPI displays
Simplified UI with cleaner layout
Setting groups auto expand
Edits are saved to the unit when using the send command even if the edit box was not closed
Fixed graphic glitches introduced in 2.90
New WinUSB DFU drivers (Win)
MFU shows whether an encoder has detent enabled and its color
MFU no longer moves an encoder with detent to 0 on load
Twister
More useable color palette (Current + MF64 palette switchable via the MFU)
Configurable Shift encoder channel (per encoder)
Configurable Animation channels (global)
Bank change animations
More than 4 banks
We can do 8 banks with no sequencer or 4/6 with sequencer. Can’t do it as a regular MFU option, one has to be an alt firmware due to memory restrictions.
New bank select side button action (hold the side button and push on an encoder to jump to a bank like Sprectra has). Serves as a quick way to check what bank you are on too which is a must when using more than 4 or
Add Spread as an indicator type
Shift Page A/B available as both toggle and momentary
Removed Bank Cycle side button action (redundant with new Bank Select action)
Display sleep timer and animations (RGB wave and turn lights off)
Not on this build but it’s top on the dev list for implementing and have native RGB addressing be part of the core firmware later this year.
This is mainly us getting past a roadblock that was preventing us from updating the MFU in Windows due to ancient code that needed rewriting and held back changes on the unit firmware that depended on the utility.
I wouldn’t mind being apart of testing and I have just the device for you guys found it only yesterday. She is in mint condition and works just as good as the day it was built. The current version MF Utility worked perfectly for this “Ancient” beast
