Mini dj controller??

Mini dj controller??

Hi guys. This may not be too popular around here, but I’m curious if anyone has any recommendations on the best “mini” dj controller to pick up?
I’ve got myself a full size dj setup, but sometimes inspiration for crafting my sets can strike when I’m not near my gear. I’m looking for something possibly to fit in my laptop bag so I can bust it out real quick and mess around. I’m looking for something relatively inexpensive with good compatibility with a Mac and Traktor and a decent of quality of build (if there is such a thing). Thanks for helping.

Nick

do you need a sound card ? if not use touchosc + your phone or tablet

Z1 works with Traktor and Traktor DJ for iOS.

I’d probably go with an X1 MK1, mapped to include mixer functionality, or Z1/X1 MK2 combo.

Check out the Behringer CMD Line of controllers. They sell them for 39 Euros here in Germany. But they are pretty big. Maybe a launchpad mini would do the job also.

xone k2 or Faderfox

+1 for either of these. On a side note…why did DJTT discontinue their Midifighter Pros? Those totally filled this gap.

Im a big fan of the xone. Also look into the mm1. There are enough buttons to suit your needs and if you lose or break it from carrying it around everywhere, your only out 80 bucks.

Soooooooo much depends on your workflow. The suggestions so far are all decent options…depending on size and budget.

Another option would be something like the Numark DJ2GO. It is small enough to put into a gig bag. The quality is reasonable for the $. After playing around with one for a few hours, I was able to effectively do some two deck mixes with it. This makes a great 3rd string backup.

There are also the phone/pad based software options. I like iMaschine for goofing off with beats while on the go. The iMaschine2 upgrade just happened ($5) and for a limited time you can pick up all 36 iMaschine1 expansion packs for $0.99. If you want to create on the go, this is a killer deal…if you are into making beats.

Akai AMX might also be an interesting option.

I have a page on my Twister set up like rotary mixer of sorts. It is mostly in case my main controller fails during a set but it’s fun to stuff it in my bag too for those on-the-go messarounds.

I also sometimes use my tablet as a controller but physical controls are better.

Did you allready think of…

…the MONSTER GO DJ???

I think about buying it for smaller gigs like friends Birthday Parties where I can connect to their HiFi System.

But it also seems a cool Thing for when you are on travel, me for example would buy it for when I travel Overseas.

With it’s capacity to manage a 2T Memory-Card it is big enough to get your Library with you all over the world.

Lack of demand mainly. You can use a Twister as a 4 deck rotary + effects and the encoders act like buttons when pushed tho.
