Mjay’s setup

Hay guys!
This is my first post on djtt but been Lurking for a while now, and I thought I would show my gear, This is my first setup, 2x stanton t.60 (same as t.62 really) and a Denon Dn-x1500 mixer. Started with Torq and a m-audio because it was on sale for $180, then I got sick of using that blue desk as it was way to low, so I built a case to sit on top and hide all the cables, then painted it all black with ghetto spray paint on top. Then upgraded to Traktor Scratch, and just recently added a novation launch pad which I use mostly for loops effects and cue points.
To be honest I’m not sure why I went with turntables over cdj’s or controllers but everything was picked up off ebay/second hand for under $1000 (thats excluding traktor) But I’m so glad I did get Timecode its so much more fun!
Next on my wish list is headphones and monitors also I will build some speaker stands, or make the laptop stand into a big long shelf.

lookin good dude! that desk is awesome.

thanks mate, I was planing to to be neater and for everything to be flush, but my wood work skills are basic at best haha

Amazing desk!!! Do you have the build up plans???

I Just Put my tt’s and mixer on a plank of wood, then marked it all out, left space either side of the mixer because it get really hot (which i have read is normal for the dnx1500) and then I used planks of wood on all four sides and two through the middle to box in the tt’s.
Then just used cheap furniture legs to raise it off the old computer desk so it was about the right height, the top part is on a hinge so it can be lifted up to read the sound card. The laptop self is just made from all the leftovers really, looks pretty crappy, but it is pretty sturdy.

I want to take the top cover part off because it sits too close to the pitch controls. It took about one full day, and another to paint it. I have no skills in building really, so if your thinking about doing it, I recommend it, as long as you know how to use power tools or a way to get all the wood cut to length. I think a build like this would be good on a couple of those ikea expedit shelves

Just got my new slipmats in the mail today =]
