Modular Digital System

Modular Digital System

Hellow once again it is I, Mr.Skarzay seeking advice on all things DJ.
I’m looking to build myself a modular mobile setup( on a tight $600/R7000 budget) which requires a mobile mixer. The setup will consist of:
2xDenon SC2000+Berhinger CMD LC-1+Laptop+Sennheiser HD25 headphones+(X),whereas (X) is a placeholder for the mixer im looking for which is in similar vein to the NI Z2 though not at that price tag.

it seem to me that you don’t need the mixer like the Z2 or DJM-T1 (mixers with dedicated MIDI buttons), your controllers (denon and behringer) already have transport and FX buttons and knobs.

You don’t use mixers for transport, and their main focus is not FX.

Are you looking for a hardware mixer that can handle analogue sources, or a MIDI based mixer for controlling software?

Currently, I want to control software.

Since you’re interested in the CMD LC-1, have you considered the MM-1?

Is there an mm-1 type device on the market with built in sound card?
Like a reloop contour for example, but a 4 channel controller instead of being jog wheel based?
@OP, if you are on such a tight budget, is it necessary to spend so much on headphones?

The Xone K2 has a built in sound card but it’s only 2 stereo channels and has a low output volume.

And Sennheiser 25s are never a bad idea

4 channel:

2 channel:

Dunno if they’re any good though - but they are cheap

These looks promising :+1:

Have anyone tried this???

I already have the headphones.

Is it possible to pair the DJM-250 or 350 (couldn’t find an Allen & Heath alt.) with the DENON ?It’s within price reach and quality looks promising.

With the Denon what? SC2000s?

You’ll still need a sound card like the Traktor Audio 2 to output each deck separately to the mixer.

Do not buy American DJ unless you are keeping it in the bedroom. :stuck_out_tongue:

eh I’m scrapping the idea based on the tight budget i have

sound cards are a funny thing. there are a few out there, i won’t say which ones, that I repeatedly noticed drop outs on loading a new track.
this is not an area to skimp on money. controllers are different. heck, a $50 ion discover dj works great, but i would not recommend going “budget” for your interface.
if you are serious, get a rane.

iei
are you refering to NI Audio 2/6 or perhaps numark’s Soundcards?

Audio 2+6 are solid. The Numark IO is decent too.

Unless you need a microphone input, the best bang for your buck - modular wise - would be had using a pair of Reloop Contours (one IE and one CE) and the Behringer MM-1.

This is the modular setup I had planned before I got my Terminal Mix 4:

Any reason why you choose the Reloop platters over the Behringers? They are quite a bit more expensive..
