My bedroom (and only currently using) setup

My bedroom (and only currently using) setup (DB4+APC40+X1+F1)

This is my Traktor setup, i switched from CDs last summer, still didnt quite get into it but coming along slowly.
My APC-mapping is slowly building to become really useful and as soon as its working perfectly i’ll be happy to share it if someones interested. My plan was originally to get some more extensive control on cues/loops, going through the learning process i added more and more and it now also fuctions as a full playback controller for 2 decks with loop control, beatjump, beatgridding functionality. The newest addition is a bix FX layer with preset FX setup.

Just today received my F1 as I wanted to get busy with the remix decks aswell. But now, with my 2 X1s it seems i have a little too much  I guess it doesnt matter, but i really cant see myself using 3 or 4 track decks and will probably have more than enough with 2 decks and 1 or 2 remix decks and i actually already think about adding another F1 to complete it. Altho I was considering the K2s, but the mapping process for the remix decks just seems like such an ordeal.

Nice setup man!

Like the DB4?

Yeah its a nice setup, probably nicer and with more possibilities than I’m able to use
Got the DB4 as an upgrade from a Denon X1500+S3500 setup and to try out Traktor. Its simply awesome to have all 4 channels from Traktor internally without the RCA-hassle. Of course I’m still getting to use Traktor as i did with my CDs, mixing 2 decks, but now with the just arrived F1 I can start sampling loops from the decks into the remix decks and I think that will be a lot of fun and open new creative ideas, so I might be using 2 decks and 1 or 2 remix decks or 3 decks and one remix deck. But for me its a bit about not overdoing it before I have a good control of it.

About the DB4 I’m getting a bit hate because I cant see “its greatness” beyond the integrated soundcard. The FX are amaxing ppl say but I havent really gotten into using them for some reason. I do however see them come more to use when I get samples firing on a remix deck and stuff.
The fact that it lacks send/returns is a bit annoying (I didnt think about it when buying it, I really thought of it as a obvious feature on such a high priced mixer) As a result I had to remove my EFX from the setup and its just collecting dust in the basement. Of course I do have FX in Traktor and the mixer, so for FX a send/return might not be so needed. But if I were to add Machine (and of course i want to even if i dont need/have the skill to work it) I have just one option and that is to add it to the Mic/Aux input with no way of routing my channels through it as an FX unit. So still today i’m thinking about if i should have bought the Xone92, guess theres a reason why its still used by the main “gadget/machine”-setup guys.

Gotta cut this short as I’m at work, but I’m really interested to hear about how others feel about their DB4 and/or Traktor setups

The thing I’m enjoying the most in my setup is the APC and the endless possibilities it has when it comes to mapping with so many buttons/lights. Altho only having one endless rotary encoder is a bit disappointing. The rest are not endless and when assigning different functions/layers to them it is a bit frustrating to have to use the soft takeover for them to not F up things.

Cheers!

Whats the exact model name of the screen? I’m also thinking about mounting a screen to the wall in front of me, because it would need less space than my notebook. Whats the distance from the surface of the screen to the wall?

I’m not sure about the exact model, but its a few years old 24" Samsung screen mounted on a very basic vesa wall mount. Distance to the wall from the back of the screen is roughly 7-10cm or so. I have been running a 2 screen +1 for traktor on my desktop, but now im looking to get a ultra-wide 29" so this one will be dedicated to my traktor setup from now. Since my grapics card cant handle 3 outputs at once I would need to disable one and enable this one earlier for mixing.

Thanks! Looks bigger than 24", i might try to find a really slim used vesa mountable 22" (or maybe evan glue it to the wall with some strips if i manage to find one with a flush back)
