need mixer suggestions!!

ok well i just bought my setup consisting of two techs, sl3, korg nanopad and a ddm4k.i was looking to sell the nanopad and the ddm4k because i was looking to get a simplified mixer and some dicers. some mixers i was looking at is the vestax pmc05pro3 and the xone 22. i want to stick with two channels and good built quality that will last! so i was wondering what you guys have to say and if i missed any other mixers?

Used Rane 56. I hear the Xone 22 is not too good and the 05Pro3 is a great battle mixer, but for mixing, the two band EQ without full kill really makes it hard to use. Don’t get me wrong, I love my 05Pro3, but the 56 is just the best two channel scratch/mix mixer availible. Magnetic stock faders with curves and reverses, full cut EQs, effects loop, built like a tank, aux out/in, it’s just a great mixer.

sorry for a nooby question but what does it mean when you say full kill?

full kill = if you turn down all EQ you wont have any sound left, some mixers only have -26db on each EQ

Ecler Nuo 2.0.

Built like a brick shit house and its even got a 3rd mic channel if you ever want an mc, or something to route samples/a 3rd deck through

thats what i thought but wanted to clarify. thanks.

yeah i see that this mixer is good but there isn’t a lot around here in my area. ecler is more of a EU mixer i believe but correct me if im wrong.

The TTM56 or 57 is probably the best due to the faders, unfortunately the 56 doesn’t have XLR outputs while the 57 does but is stuck with the SL1. Whatever you get save yourself the heart ache if you’re gigging with it and make sure you get something with XLR outputs

The DJM-250 is like $340, has virtually every single thing a 2 channel mixer should need and then some, and is built pretty solid all around.

i thought about the 56 but the xlrs are a must. and i already have an sl3 so kinda no point of getting a 57 imo.

hm nuo 2.0 vs djm 250, both have a third channel to route sample decks into but on the DJM you can´t cue the third channel as far as I can tell. Damn both look pretty nice and I can get the DJM for 300 CHF new while the NUO 2.0 is around 350 CHF used (new is around 650)…decisions decisions

well i think the nuo 2.0 is a great mixer that is packed into a small mixer. overall great but i think i found the right mixer. im deciding on the rane empath because it has three channels and i do have an SL3 which can hook up an extra deck just in case. but i think overall its a better mixer but the nuo 2.0 is my second choice.

Reloop IQ2 got mine secondhand for 125 euro’s and it’s a beast

i love the reloop brand but i have already decided. thanks for your input though.

i dont mean to hijack the thread… but…
2 things… if performing at a gig could you just convert the 1/4’’ to an XLR with an adapter? and second.. if I am buying a used TTM 56, is there anything i should look for other than its physical condition? do any parts of the TTM wear out like faders, etc, that i need to test or might have to repair/should inquire about?

Thanks!

Not really. The faders are non contact and magnetic so they don’t really wear out. If they bleed, the problem can be fixed easily. Just ask the seller to verify that all the knobs are on the mixer and to in audio through and test all the EQs making sure they fully kill the frequency When all of the EQs are down, there should be no sound. When the gain is all the way down, there should be no sound. Also ask about the power adapter and ask of the prong that keeps the plug in is still good. A very common problem for a 56 is the prong to break off (it’s like a landline phone cord). The mixer still works, but the plug has nothing holding it in, it’s held in place with nothing. Mine is broken but I don’t move my mixer while powered on so it’s fine.
