NEVER use the crossfader?

NEVER use the crossfader?

Hi folks!

i am curious how many people also don’t use the crossfader for anything.
for me, i never used him since the beginning.

i like to steer my channel-volume directly with the seperate channel-faders which let me set different mix-ratio as i would be able to set with the crossfader.

who does it the same?

Q-Bert also doesn’t like the x-fader

I haven’t used a crossfader since i started.. And been DJ’n for around ten years now.

I get more control through my line faders.

same, tried it, didnt like it, never used it again

kinda limiting yourselves innit?

I don’t usually use the crossfader except for quick cuts. When mixing dance music, I don’t use it at all, you get more control with the upfaders. In fact I broke the crossfader off my VCI-100 straight after buying it and never replaced it.

Yep never used..unless I’m doing a SWIIIIIITCH!!

Use it all the time, but then I don’t really play ‘dance’ music - more funk/hip-hop/party breaks.

Doesn’t limit me in any way as i only play house, tech and disco mainly so always just straight up mixing for me.

When I started, I used the X Fader to fade my transitions…

But pretty quickly I picked up that you don’t HAVE to.

I think I saw someone else using just the Volume Faders…and tried it then stuck with it.

I only use it for Scratching now…never for mixing.

The only time i ever use the cross fader is when i’m mixing with more than 2 decks and i need to pull out every deck but 1 with a drum fill or somethin like that. otherwise, line faders all the way.

I only use the crossfade If i want to do a cut, which is pretty rare.

If I’m straight up mixing I never use one, I think mostly due to the fact that when I started playing X-faders in clubs were normally trashed beyond recognition and not worth using anyhow :stuck_out_tongue:

Only recently started using the Cross fader on the APC but for FX engaging really only.

I think it depends on your style, I play Deep / Progressive house/trance and Tech house mostly which doesn’t really lend itself to cuts, not in a crossfadery way anyhow - I can understand top 40, hip hop, r&b etc.. DJ’s rely on them though.

^this.

Once that fader starts bleeding, don’t replace it, just ignore it

Mixing, i’ll use the Line Levels every time. Always have! I might use the Crossfader for a cut every so often… but in the mix, it’s always those lovely line levels!!

broke the crossfader on my vci last week. guess what? i didn´t care at all

crossfader usage: 30 sec. per month

NEVER use the crossfader?

Fwiw I’ve always used xfader as I had issues years ago with line faders bleeding so I would cut then bring center and then use the line faders. Just for security

Don’t really use it much with physical mixers. I used it when I had an S4 and went through a short phase since I thought the S4 was kind of useless for actually mixing with the line faders.

I use the cross fader rarely only for a quick cut or i’ve done some spin backs and i wanted the echo ring out over a break down of the other track i felt i had more control with the cross fader but if it’s different per song used.

Stopped using the cros fader three years and two mixers ago. Never going back.
Hell, I might just save u and get a rotary.
