New apple macbook updates as of today

Apple didn’t choose to make a big deal out of their newly updated macbook pro’s here’s all the info Apple Bumps MacBook Pro with Processor, Graphics, Storage Upgrades - MacRumors

Fuhhhk I bought one last week!

You can take it back and change it. There is a grace period.

just like karlos santos said. you can take it back no probs at all

Ah well, the MBP I got last month is now obsolete

the new graphics upgrades are nice but the rest is hardly anything to cry over. think of it like this. Your “obsolete” MBP has better battery life with a slower cpu and gpu under the hood

You know, im at the point now where i dont care about specs anymore.
My next Mac will definitely be the lowest spec 13" cus its just for work DJing (high street clubs etc).
Ill stick a bigger HDD in and that will be it. I simply do not need an all singing all dancing MBP for Traktor.

I used to stress about getting the fastest, high spec MBP. Done it twice now and im over it.

The new 13" will rip the shit out of my current 2.53/8GB MBP 15". I dont use laptops for production or anything other than Traktor.

+1000

Tongue was in cheek. A quad-core will do me fine. Especially as Maschine doesn’t yet have multi-core.

If anything, limitations promote good song-building in production (committing to audio etc).

So, the 13" got a 100MHz processor upgrade and better graphics…totally see why they didn’t really shout about it…it barely qualifies as trivial. But, that’s okay because the bottom-end 13" is still good enough for just about anything any reasonable person could want to do on a laptop.

I’m way over buying high-end Apples…they’re all high-end afaic.

How big of a difference is there in performance between the Macbook pro 2.4 ghz Duo Core and the 2.8 Ghz i7 13" models?

I’m looking to upgrade as my macbook pro is acting a little choppy, especially with maschine and traktor running at the same time or ableton and traktor.

Also are the i7 13" models capable of hyper threading, so a dual core would act as a virtual quad?

I need the dedicated graphics card you get with the 15" and up otherwise I’d probably just get an air

I still can’t justify upgrading my 09 13" mbp, and i do use it for production as well. Only thing lacking a bit on mine it’s the graphics (upgraded disc and ram and don’t feel I need much more than a C2D), but i can live with it. We’ll see what next year brings us.

Bought a base model 13" a week ago. Not even worth the effort to swap it over for the new one IMO

Very happy with my 15" 2.0 i7. It does everything I want it to and more.

Recently bought some extra RAM, just waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Gonna bump it up to 8GB for some extra umph.

When I was working in design my first apple was a 7600ppc, it stunk, but was better than nearly every thing else for running adobe. I had to streamline it and fight with ram issues. It was middle of the line and there was really only one model better at an extra $2k or so. I’ve stuck to the middle end of the products when running a serious workstation, video, graphic design, etc. and never worried about the bumps in processor until they came out with second generation of the new processor.
Now I’m running a consumer level white MacBook that is going on four years old, it works fine for 90% of what I need a computer to do. I bought this one on the same principle and went middle of the road on processor spec, haven’t added ram or upgraded the hd, both of which I want to do now.
The point is most of the time the specs don’t matter anymore. The 5% or less performance isn’t as obvious as it used to be, as it performs great.
All that said I would really like to upgrade and pass this computer on to the wife and kids this year, the air looks great, ultra portable and speedy enough.

I would rather they upgrade the hard drives to 7200rpm than upgrade the size. I already have 3tb worth of external storage.

Really good do with an upgrade from my old macbook, but they are still so expensive :disappointed:

It’s not that big of an update but it is a better system for the same amount of money. Hiopefully I shoud have mine in a few days. =D

I jus want a free 5TB Thunderbolt external hard drive. It’s all I want.
