New DJ

hey guys im new to this website and starting DJing and i was wondering whats a good mixer to get? thanks

You undoubtable be asked how much, and what you want from it, 2 channel, 3 channel, 4 channel. Effects or bad ass filters, or portability. Then you will basically get 3 answers: A pioneer 700, 800, 900, A Xone 32, 42, etc, Ecler nuo 2.0 3.0.

there are so many out there, it depends what you want to do with it..

  • how much do you have to spend on it?
  • what do you want to do with it?? i mean other than mix do you want fx onboard or are you happy with just a straight mixer.

the very least you should get something with the basic 3 eq’s per channel.

i like my mixers old school…

  • Start by figuring out your goal, if nothing else a short term goal:
  • what kind of music
  • where are you going to play
  • what do you want to achieve, what kind of DJ do you want to be

Based on that’s it’s much, much easier to give advice.

hey man thanks but those are ALOT of money haha what about this one is it good?

im gonna be playing house, techno, dubstep, music like that. just thinkin bout starting off with decent equipment because i dont wanna play at gigs or raves, just parties and stuff you know? so yea.

What’s your budget?
WHat elese do you have? CD Player? TT? Dj Software?

Back in the days, it was easy… but now…

i got 265$ and i was thinkin bout getting a mixer and classic midi fighter and just use those.

That mixer: No. You want Low/Mid/High EQ.

Can you guys find me something good thats cheap id appreciate it

but now… its easier, we got the sync button :stuck_out_tongue:

so anyone and everyone thinks there a DJ super star

Decent equipment costs more than your budget. As this seems to be a standard ‘my first controller’ thread I’ll give you the generic ‘buy a MIDI controller with pitch faders and jog wheels so you can learn to beatmatch, because then you can DJ in any situation’ advice. Again.

so lethal what your saying is just buy 1 midi fighter pro? thats it?

No, I’m saying the opposite. MIDI controller with mixer section, jogs, pitch faders and built-in soundcard.

where can i buy one of those? on the website? and can you give me the link? thanks

Numark Mixtrack Pro is a decent starter kit.

wait wait wait…

lets start this right… ok your budget is aprox $250 - $300,
what else do you have ?
your asking advice on what mixer to get but your (or we at least)
not sure if a mixer is what or all you need,

do you have CD decks or turn tables ?
do you have headphones ?

if so then you need a mixer,

if you dont have those basic things then you need to get them also and if you dont have the budget to get them
you maybe better off getting a midi controller… if that is the case,

do you have a laptop ? (if you do, what spec)
do you have an suitable soundcard ?
do you have dj software ? (if you do what one)
(again) do you have headphones ?

also,
do you need speakers/amps etc

the more info you give, the more help/opinions/thoughts you will get.

ps. welcome to the club, i remember when i hadn’t a clue about gear or what to buy when i was starting out.

Xone DB4, Heard theyre quite good.
