it seems like with just that equipment you would have great control of everything in traktor except for scratching. I think that would be a great mobile setup. Use the setup with your cdjs and you’ve got everything covered.
i have a similar set up. Using a Xone 42 and two X1’s. Not sure what you can get the stanton for but I got my Xone for 675.00 B-Stock from prostar audio and it was perfect, straight from allen and heath.
The only thing getting used to is not having jog wheels, but aside from that it’s an awesome set up and you’ll have control of a bunch of functions in traktor. If your mobile take your mixer and X1’s, you can always add CDJ’s or turntables or if you go somewhere that has a house set up, take your two X1’s and Audio 8 and plug into the house mixer.
It takes a few wires but its an easy set up. Hook up your audio 8 using 4 RCA cables, 1 for each line in external mode and thats it. Each volume fader controls a channel. Plug your audio 8 and X1’s into your computer and your jamming.
oh gotcha…not sure man, never used one. Im guessing you would have to map each of the volume faders for each deck, and the cross fader. Same as the VCI has each mapped. Then yeah master out in internal mode. Just curious why get a midi mixer if your gonna have two X1’s?
yeah with a setup where you are using a midi mixer, you are mixing in the box and should route the master out into the house mixer or whatever the soundguy tells you
@haze324 sometimes my friends want me to dj at a house party or one of their bbq’s (they own a PA system) and i dont want to carry my djm 800 and my cdjs… so i can carry a whole set with just a backpack…everything so light-weight
yeah man I hear ya…i have a post up asking where’s a good place to find a case where i can toss a mixer and two X1’s. It would be great to have everything already prewired and just show up and plug in the speakers and go.
If I was in your shoes I’d do the same and not want to carry the DJM 800 and CDJ’s around for small party. I just read your sig block — my bad, didn’t mean to insult your intelligence on how to hook up an audio 8.
I’ll tell you though man, it’s takes a little getting used to using the X1’s and no jogwheels. Aside from that, they are awesome pieces of equipment.
I say get them. The more of us on this site that get them the better the collab will be to fully maximize their use.
dont worry didnt take it as a insult & thank for the heads up on the x1’s i just really like equipment that i can incorporate with my timecode setup or do a whole setup without the timecode… and im still debating between the stanton midi mixer or the m-audio x-session pro considering the price
hhahahh…i started writing about the Xsession on my last post but ended up deleting it since you posted up a pretty pricey mixer and the Xsession is 70 bucks.
I ended grabbing an external mixer and the X1’s for the same reason. I like using timecode, but want to leave the TT’s at home when just jamming at a small gig.
The Xsession looks great for the money. I was thinking about mapping the pitch sliders as the volumes for decks C and D. you don’t need any other button aside from the cross fader and volumes, oh and cueing your headphones. Everything else in on the X1. If I were you, i’d get the X1’s first and play around with them and then decide if you want a nice midi stanton or if the Xsession will do for what you want it for.
yea im going to buy one definitely and then the next one but i dont wanna do broke all at once but either way if i were to get the (2) Kontrol X1’s and one of the midi mixer i know im gunna always be using it due to the portability and there always gunna be on me haha
