New Website - Comments?

http://djmogal.tk/

I’m going to add some pictures on the about me section.

Comments?

Thanks,
Mogal

Proof read, I see some spelling and grammar problems. Also I’m not too sure about quoting lyrics. I wouldn’t do that but to each his own.

The word “Music” and the blue

s are almost impossible to see on that background. I had to highlight it to read it.

I saw a few spelling and grammar problems as well but it’s a nice foundation!!

I would go with a cleaner design, it’s a little overloaded with the color variety in the homepage right now and maybe replace the header image with something else.

I’m obviously biased, but I would go with a website like word press or tumblr where you can update people on your shows. Tumblr are very elegant and have a super quick learning curve.

Thanks for all the comments guys! I’ll make sure to incorporate them.

Padi, do you think changing the text color to white would make it less overloaded? (As opposed to changing the header)

…lose the …Anything!

Yeah, on a second look that is a bit silly to have in. Thanks for pointing that out

Keep it simple  without it being dull.

This is the kind of web design I like http://deejaypaddy.pdj.com/ (without the ad and bloat on the sides). I might be an extremist :stuck_out_tongue:

Chose a color palette (and general design) that focuses the attention where needed. This site might help on that http://colorschemedesigner.com/

That site is super nice, I don’t think I have the capabilities of creating such a site though :stuck_out_tongue:

Overall, I’m just starting out - so I don’t need something too professional - but I’m going to add some pictures here and there. I’ll definitely be using that website as a model.

You can add embebed soundcloud players for your sets and such, that is always a nice extra. (pro tip: you can change the color scheme by tweaking the code a little bit)

Another good design example is http://www.djmarkknight.com/ . Nothing too fancy.

There are also some nice pic gallery widgets you can get the code for online for free

i use this for my more minimal cover art.

examples (sorry for the jumbo images):

Stick to a color scheme. Use a different font size for headers. Abide by the 960 Grid. Work on your spacing (whitespace is key).
