So I finally have Audio 2dj and traktor pro setup on the laptop. I plugged in the VCI and it’s powered on but not controlling anything. I can control traktor pro with the mouse, but the vci isn’t controlling anything. What am I doing wrong? I checked system preferences and it’s recognizing the vci, just nothing is happening…
Tried powering up. But what exactly do I need to do to import the TSI file. I bought the gear used so I’m starting from scratch. Sorry to sound like an idiot…
I think in another one of your posts you said you were using a mac. If that’s the case (command ,) will open the preferences window. Click on “controller manager” then at the bottom of the window you should see a button labeled “import.” Click it and navigate to where ever you put the download from djtechtools. Then select file labeled VCI-1003_4.tsi. Taktor should then show you a list of options. Click ok and you should be good to go. For the sake of tidyness I always move the tsi files to the appropriate VCI-100 folder in Traktor’s midi mapping folder. After that you might have to restart traktor for it to take effect.
I hope that’s reasonably clear and that it gets you started.
i get the feeling this is the whole reason for the problem. the vci itself is useless without a)a computer and software and b) the settings file in the software to run it. the mapping lives in your computer, not the controller. the controller just sends signals, the tsi tells traktor what these signals do.
in traktor open the preferences box, at the bottom of it click the ‘import’ button, navigate to the tsi file on your computer, select it, open it, sorted
you can get the tsi file here if you haven’t already got it Mappings
i’m assumin that if you bought one with se overlay that is upgraded to 1.3 firmware and will run the maps in the link.
Bingo. You need to update asap as already said by the guys.
Yep. Service Center will already have the latest version waiting for you.
If you have any issues with Service Centre the solution is simply to reinstall it from the installer on the Support website. More on that if you need it but S.C. should do it.
Your not human Jester, ive seen those webbed feet you amphibian
Do I need to pay to upgrade? It’s asking for the serial numbers of the upgrade. Or since I already have a version of Traktor pro is there a way around it.
Strange thing is it feels like it should be working. The little midi light on Traktor flashes when I touch anything on the controller, it’s just not controlling.
In the Traktor Service center it says Traktor PRo Activated
It says all my software updates are up to date as well.
I’m pretty sure this is a version of Traktor Scratch Pro that came with an Audio 8. The license says 2008 NI.
Is this going to work.
If someone has a US phone # that wants to help. I will gladly ship them a bottle of their favorite liquor (within reason) if you can help me get this thing up and running.
Have you registered on the NI support website.
When you do that you can access the Support Section.
After login you can see your Personal Download Manager. This shows all the Installers that are available. You can simply download the latest Installer 1.2.4 and install it.
You can also View your Registration number on the Support Site and copy and paste it into Service Centre if your asked for it.
The way to fix/update Service Center is to download it form Personal Download Manager and reinstall.
this all seems like a pain but its relatively simple when you get logged in.
Ill be on here for a while if you need any further help mate
I was having the exact same issue as you have stated in your first post. I simply reinstalled Traktor, what I didnt see at the time was I still had my VCI connected to my laptop whilst I was reinstalling Traktor.
However the good news is that my VCI now works perfectly! Not sure if you are meant to do this, but it fixed my issue and I now have everything working perfectly. I just need to reinstall the latest TSI from DJTT.
I am not quite sure this is the right way of getting around the issue but it certainly worked for me.
Hope this helps as there is nothing more frustrating than buying new toys that wont work!!
