Newbie question - Cables to Controller?

Hello all,

I’m investing in some K12’s for my new DJ business - http://qsc.com/products/loudspeakers/k_series/K12/

I have a question on hooking these up. I’m currently using a Pioneer DDJ SR controller with Serrato for my DJ needs - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/DJ/Controllers/DDJ-SR

The SR only has 1/4 and RCA connectors, and does not have XLR plugs/ports. How can I connect the two? Is it simply a matter of getting cabling with the correct connectors on each end? I just want to make sure I’m buying the correct thing without having to deal with the hassle of a return.

Thanks!

Yeah use Jack to XLR cables - probably get some decent ones if gigging with them / well shielded, good connectors & well made

Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply Nicky. At the risk of sounding incredibly needy, would you mind posting a link to the kind of cable you’re talking about? I just want to make sure I’m looking at the right thing, and an example would be awesome.

Thanks!

Those look like they have 1/4" TRS/XLR combo jacks like most active speakers. You could either use straight 1/4" TRS cables or 1/4" TRS to XLR cables. The difference is that XLR locks into the jack. The advantage of that is that the connection will withstand someone stepping on the cable. The disadvantage is that someone tripping over the cable could pull the speaker.
