Giz just posted the story. No info yet on if it does MIDI, but this is interesting in any case…

that look sic! Nice find…it would be nice if it had midi or osc, we just have to wait.

As Giz said, it seems like a “pacemaker pro”. I couldn’t find a reason to remove the main part personally. I guess so I can dance front stage as I DJ. :stuck_out_tongue:

The button on the upper right hand corner looks like it came out of a CDJ?

WACOM nextbeat

looks interesting, huh?

could have a few more buttons still,
but in general a very nice approach imo.
the outer part of the jogwheel seems to be riddon controllers for pitch, CF and others..

beeing from wacom suggests good quality at least, and it should be quite thought-out.

Nextbeat by Wacom

http://i.gizmodo.com/5170253/wacom-dips-toe-in-club-scene-with-nextbeat-wireless-dj-controller

Wacom, the tablet and touchscreen company that’s made a name for itself in graphic design circles, is about to enter the discotheque.

The entry is called Nextbeat, a music controller that lets prosumer DJs mix and manipulate their beats with a variety of touchscreen controls and a portable “pod” that docks with the main unit. In theory, it could allow DJs to leave the booth and enter the dance floor maelstrom, if they so choose.

The Nextbeat is slated for release in Europe (surprise) and Japan this summer. No pricing info was available, nor was there any mention of this portable beat box making an appearance Stateside. It will be on display, however, from March 24-28 in Miami Beach at the Winter Music Conference. Pacifier and glow sticks are not included [technabob]

Wacom Nexbeat

I was watching moldover play with this new instrument-controller.

I am sure that you are going to be interested. Don´t know much about it yet just started reading. Here is the description:

Graphic tablet manufacturer Wacom is set to delve into the evolving world of next generation DJ controllers with the release of a new wireless touch pad/docked controller called Nextbeat.

The all-in-one controller comes with a pair of digital audio players, a mixer, sampler and effects unit, as well as a special docking wireless control pad which allows you to control sounds and manipulate audio far away from the DJ booth - uh oh, does this mean DJs will start prancing about on stage like electric guitar maestros?

Nextbeat will be able to be controlled by finger pressure and movements (the levels surrounding the touchpad look like they were designed for pinpoint accuracy), and there is also a screen and some physical knobs (thought we’re unclear what these control as no info has been released yet).

The Nextbeat DJ system is set to be released in Europe and Japan this summer after a demonstration touting session at Germany’s Musicmesse which takes place April 1st - 4th.
