No songs playing in TRAktorr!!! URGENT!!
I’ve just realised now that after putting my libabry throiugh mixed in key that no song at all will play in traktor !!! what the ell is going on im meant to be playing in 2 hours!!!
Breathe, relax, do you have a backup? Are you getting any kind of error message? What exactly happens? Can you play a song that hasn’t been run through MIK? Are you positive your sound card and everyhthing is setup right? I don’t know of any reason MIK would make a song unplayable. Try to right click on a song and check consistency. Try rebooting. Let us know how these things work and i’m sure some others will pop in soon with maybe some other ideas.
i have to search for every song manually in the finder and then drag it into traktor. so there are still the songs that play but its so much hassle browsing and draggin etc. Everything is set up correctly the only songs that play in traktor is the sets that i didnt put through mixed in key so i no its something to do with that program. its means all my cue points, loops etc are all lost and its back to basic shitty mixing.
after importing them to mik did u changed the path of ur mp3`s? this could be one reason that u can´t play them through your playlists in traktor
Did you have mik relabel the songs? If so, Traktor now needs to be redirected to the song. I don’t think mik kills the Traktor part of the ID3 label, so you should just have to relocate the song for Traktor (yes, it’s a ball-ache to do…)

yea i think i must of relablled the songs. some are not even playing in itunes. is there any way which i can reverse this processs as im djing 2moro night again
MIK has renamed your tracks and now Traktor doesn’t know what they are. If they are .mp3s then you can just import them again though your playlists may be borked

Also having it set so that MIK places the key in the comments instead of the song title would have prevented this problem.
Is there an option of doing this without manually putting in each keynote? I’m planning on getting MIK soon and am a bit concerned about this.
Yes in preferences you can select to write key in front of artist name, end of song name, in front of comments, or to overwrite comments.
however you set up MIK, you should run your songs through that BEFORE importing them to traktor. That’s what I do, anyway… Traktor doesn’t deal gracefully when songs get moved or changed. But your cue points and stuff are still there, you just need to relocate the songs (one at a damn time, unfortunately). It would be good if Traktor had some kind of smart song-relocater like Ableton has (you can point Ableton to the right folder and it can often figure out the rest).
this is ssssssssssooooooooooooooooo annoying and has realli ruined my ability to preform as i want to in traktor now because im worrying about locating a song manually and dragging it in than actually playing and performing. would time machine on a mac help if i went back to before i did this??
Thankfully I’ve only had to use Time Machine once so I’m not real up on how it works, but I think it will do exactly what you want. Open your iTunes music folder in finder, then open time machine. Time Machine should open up in the same folder you currently have open so you just pick a date and hit restore. I would probably pick one band or do a couple of small folders first to make sure it works that way and doesn’t screw anything else up.
When you get it all fixed you can go in preferences and select where you store the key. I have it set to go in front of comments, that way if I already have a note in there it doesn’t overwrite it. And like djproben does, I drag all my songs into MIK from itunes, then place them in Traktor’s collection.
There’s also a check box that says “updating custom initial key mp3 tag”, which stores it in Traktor’s Key field. If you choose that option you may have to right click on one of the columns in Traktor and make the column viewable. After that you can drag those columns around and sort by key if you want.
