After reading the DJTT review on the NS6, It made me no longer want the controller because it said that it wasn’t good with traktor. Is this True? I need a controller that can control virtual DJ and traktor. The only other alternative I see to this is the DDJ-T1 from Pioneer. So I ask, has anyone used the NS6 with traktor and compared it to serato itch recently to see if it was any good?
the denon seems to small, i just want to know fi the ns6 is really that bad with traktor or there are some decent mappings that got the jog wheels right.
if youre going to go with an ns6 (or really any itch hardware) you might as well use itch. if thats not a good option for you - you might as well just get a different controller.
The NS6 is a great piece of hardware but as long as the Serato rift between Scratch Live and Itch exists I feel that both software suites are inferior to a fully integrated solution like Traktor. Don’t compromise on the controller computer link, if you wanna run Traktor now get an S4 or MC6000(I prefer the S4) or wait for the VCI400. That is going to be a killer piece of kit, I imagine…
the reason i don;t want an s4 is because i also use virtual DJ and there isnt any support for the s4 last time i checked. I am between the ddj-t1 and the ns6. The reaason I want to know about the ns6 is becuase the jog wheels are better than ddj-t1
I have an NS6 and use it with Tracktor Pro 2 and it is fine. Took a little effort to get it mapped to my liking but the standard map than you can get on the numark site is pretty good to start with and it works with Virtual DJ too (think there is a mp for that too.
I now have it mapped to use 3 decks and a sample deck with chained effects on FX bus 1, single FX on other FX bus 2, the loop recorder, hot cues, filters, beatjump, etc and there is plenty more i could do.
My only crticism is that you have to map it as where it just works in Itch and because it is designed for Itch when you map to Traktor the labels on the buttons/knobs may no correspond but nothing more needed than either memory/practice or marking up with a little tape as a professional sound engineer would do to a studio mixing desk.
Other than that i’m pretty happy with it and i’m sure as I get more and more into the functions of Traktor the more i’ll map.
Depends really what you want to do. If soley Traktor its probably behind the S4 although the jogs are much better but the mapping and less hotcues make it a close 2nd.
if you need flexibility then for the price its a winner.
Hopw that helps and happy to share my map if you get one - once I document what each button does that is! (i have them memorised but is specific to my workflow and maybe not intuitive for another dj).
