The one thing that really ‘turned me on’ to the NS7 and products like it was the motorized platter. Looks pretty neat though. Guess to each their own
.
really interested in this bit of kit. although it’s marketed as a Serato controller, they say they will bundle it with Traktor mappings so i assume it works for both - which is encouraging for Traktor users.
I think it looks like a really solid unit. I like it a LOT.
They need to get rid of the terrible silver jog wheels and, that thing will get more greasy and dirty than an S4.
That was my first thought.
Why not wait for the Numark Mixdeck Quad?
wow i really likey
suppose the ns6 is more of a portable solution.
the only thing i noticed about these controllers that’s a little disconcerting is the lack of knobs for fx control.
Well it’s not built for traktor.
Personally I really like it. I’d like to see more controllers designed for beat matching and the like.
hmmm i’m really interested in this.
anyone had a go on one?
any other threads about this?
specifically: i learnt on technics and only moved to cdjs when the cdj1000 landed and got its vinyl emulation ok. I’m no turntablist but the occassional transform, scribble or juggle get into my sets, and i need to be able to cut.
now i use traktor, controlled by cdjs, but using a hercules steel for fx, loops, hot cues etc.
so i guess i reckon this could be the first all round controller with reasonable vinyl emulation and enough buttons?
news?
yeah those silver jogs are horrible. I have an NS7 and an S4 and while I do tons more with the S4 — playing on the NS7 is much funner. It just feels like “real” hardware vs. a controller with the spinning wheels and the metal construction.
The NS6 from what I’ve read is of the same build quality and Numark has improved the buttons. With Itch 2.0 on the horizon this thing could do some damage, it’s not that small though. 23 inches across vs. the S4 19 inches. So not sure how it will fit in a club DJs kit. Looks promising though if it is inline with the NS7 (soundcard also is great).
I really dislike the sliver jogs.
I think this thing will get used tons more when Itch finally adds video and places start wanting DJ and VJ capabilities.
**note – DJ Cerla posted a pretty sweet routine on one yesterday on youtube.
that cerla demo has nearly sold it 4 me. I’d seen a few clips so far but on that one that tap/gate thing he does on the platter implies those discs really are very nearly as sensitive as vinyl.

anyone with anymore hands on knowledge?
how does ns6 compare to cdj 1000s or vinyl on 1210 for scratching?
Blue I’d check out the Itch forum
Thats where most of the info is located since this is a controller designed for Serato Itch. I have an NS7 and had VCI-300 both with Itch and the platter response on both of those is awesome. I had 1200’s for a long time and the NS7 control is on par…I’d expect the NS7 is very similar to pair of CDJ’s. The way those guys in Itch combine hardware and software is great.
I’d recommend doing your homework on Itch first before purchasing the NS6 so you know what the software offers.
i heard it was going to be shipped with a traktor midi map too?
i will chk itch anyway as it comes with it in the box. will def chk that link too, skillz mate.
yeah but Traktor does not support hi-res midi at the jog wheels. That’s why the NS7 doesn’t work and the VCI-300 has not so great jog wheel response either. The only “hi res” of sorts for jogs with Traktor is with the S4 and that’s because it uses NI’s own protocol. Even with the 1.4fw with the VCI-100 it’s not the same as the VCI-300 and Itch.
Also the NS6 doesn’t have the needed knobs and buttons to fully control effects in Traktor. if your gonna use Traktor get the S4. The jogs are great response wise – just small.
hmmm, thanks for the knowledge, no one made it clear how different the two protocols were before.
i had a go on the s4 and found it too small to be honest.
willing to learn itch i reckon, but research needed like you say
Ill consider buying one if they create a “V6”, I prefer modular gear.
+1
Personally I just want the mixer section. That’s be neat. ![]()
Has Numark upped the quality on their products? I would NEVER have had interest in buying from companies like Numark or Gemini. Shit just never lasts.
