Opening 2 hour set for sultan+ned shepard at after party - Melbourne bounce?

Hey everyone,

I’ve had quite a few gigs in smaller bars and clubs doing either the main set or opening set but this will be my biggest gig so far… I’m opening the after party for sultan + ned shepard, everyone will have just left from seeing tommy trash.

Since it’s an after party wouldn’t progressive/minimal be too big of an energy drop from seeing tommy trash?

I was thinking I could get away with starting with minimal and moving into melbourne? thoughts?

thanks

Melbourne is great because it’s not super thrashy and harsh on your ears.. I think it would work out well.

Although I would never play anything like that at an afters party, but I don’t know where you’re from or how the scene is.

Blimey, there’s a genre of music called ‘Melbourne’? What on earth is that? Ha

I would also like to know this.

Electro based, offbeat basslines.. So basically every track has the same bassline lol. I like it though.

I like to make it, heres an example:

i would play a techno set, there is energy there but also its pretty chill, but probably nothing over 130bpm

melbourne bounce producers/djs include TJR, Deorro, Will Sparks, J-Trick, Joel Fletcher, Uberjak`d, timmy trumpet, Reece Low, and many othere. its basically party type electro house but not the cookie cutter type. had off basslines ans whatnot, love this style

It’s the style that makes people jump instead of dancing  I love it because in clubs I play everyone likes a little melborneia no matter the age.
You just need to dig hard to find good songs as there are some many that sound almost the same.

I’ve been big on playing Melb out here in my area and the reaction I get is incredible. None of the other DJs around me even know about it so it really brings out a good hype.

never even heard of Melbourne
