Just having a convo with the lady about moving to europe next year when we are done school.
Shell have her masters in sociology studying economy and ill be a massage therpaist/ reiki practitioner.
If I move to europe I really want to movve to a place with a music scene that currently only exists in my imagination. Somewhere that I could get a couple gigs out now and again or always be out on the go with people around.
I’m confident that ill find work whereever I go so if you where going to move to a place in europe that is affordable and has a great music/social scene let me know where it is.
I would go with Berlin, insane club/art/fashionscene, cheap apartments, food is cheap, beer out on a club is normally around 3-4usd, nice weather. And last but not least, it’s in the middle in whole of Europe witch means you guys can go by train to nearly everywhere.
Use craigslist.org for apt search, it’s a lot of english speaking ppl living there.
i’d say berlin too. i’ve had a few mates move there over the last 4-5 years (but they’re all back here in Aus now) and they all rave about it. they all said that english is pretty much an equal first language there, and they said exactly the same as you re apartments, food etc.
it’s somewhere i’d definitely consider moving to if i were to move to europe for a while.
Berlin is great, but might be a little too much for some. Great nightlife, but 9/12 months are super depressing, weather wise.
I’m moving to copenhagen after the summer to do my masters in design. Gonna be a blast.
Currently living in madrid and i love it,been here a year(move back to england next month),spain is a nice place in genreal night life is awsome and so much stuff to do
and the weather is amazing.
living is cheap,we pay 500euro a month for an apartment about 10 mins from the main center inc’s all bills, water, internet, etc…
food and alcohol cost hardly anything a weekly shop for us costs about 15euro
i will be sad to leave but got stuff to do in england and of course want to see friends, family.
will be looking at berlin for maybe next year depending on the job market
If you close your eyes and throw a ball in Berlin you’ll hit a Techno DJ, then when the ball bounces of them it’ll hit 10 more before it stops bouncing. I would guess this might make it kind of hard to get gigs playing techno if that’s your thing. I myself could never adjust to leaving a party at 5:00 am, eating breakfast, then going to another party.
15euro a week on groceries? damn thats out of control!! you mustn’t eat at home very often..?
i paid $6.50 AUD for an apple and a banana the other day! (granted fresh produce and meat prices here are high at the moment due to the severe floods and cyclones early in the year)
don’t really eat that much,i hate the heat so i mainly drink tho we eat out alot at the weekends.
But again its fairly cheap, there is this amazing Chinese restaurant next to mine for 4 people 8 drinks and four 2course meals only about 40 euro its good place to live.
Fruit and meat is super cheap,i am gonna cry when i get back to england as prices are just silly.
+1 for Berlin, Madrid is pretty cool, and I’m loving Barcelona this year. If you want a place with a vibrant music scene in the UK I’d suggest Brighton or Bristol, I’m surprised MiL0 didn’t!
The big difference between here and the UK for me is that it’s THE NORM to leave your place at 1.30am for the club and not leave til 6 at the earliest. You can find that in London but it costs a lot.
hell yeah its why i love it out here, if i ain’t in a bar i don’t leave to go out till like 1am and pretty much every club stays open till 7 or 8 then you can just get breakfast and head home.and don’t have to spend money on taxis as the metro opens again 6am and its 1 euro anywhere
Unlike the uk where kicking out time is 3am and all hell breaks loose
much as I am loathe to just agree to someone who has simply agreed with me… I agree.
Kicking out at 3 (or 2, or even 1.30 sometimes in exeter?!?!?!) is bullshit. The night’s just getting started. Once we went on a night out here and managed to find the only club in the city that closed at 4am. I was livid.
4am where i’m going in reading tomorrow, and if i trek to fabric, it’s around 6/7ish… but then it’s costly to do that as only the ‘big’ places run til that kind of time
