PA for home Djing
Hey!
I´m looking for a powerful PA for a living room at home where I practice DJing. I had the Reloop ADM-5 but they were way to soft. I need something which has enough power and base. What would you recommend?
Thanks

Whats your budget?
I would FIRMLY recommend decent (100W, maybe?) hi-fi speakers and an amp.
I’ve recently bought a little T-amp from ebay, that sits PERFECTLY on the shelf on my Stanton Uberstand, and the sound (quality and volume) is magnificent.
I have 68w (4ohm)/50w (8ohm) T-amp going into 100w (8ohm) speakers.
That shit is LOUD and CRISP. It sounds BLOODY LOVELY, and can be had for less than £100.
I would agree the HiFi route would be a lot better, if my decks were downstairs they’d be run through the HiFi.

+1 on the T-Amp, and you can pick up decent S/H speakers for pittance on ebay these days e.g. JBL Control 5’s or Bose 201’s can be had for under $100 the latter stood the test of my old DJ shop for 7 or 8 years before it closed down (speakers were still fine).
If you are in the USA you might look at these - I had a pair at home for years, used them at parties and they kick… loud and sound good. Real bargain for $100 and you can drive them on almost any amp easily, e.g. I ran mine off a car stereo and even an alarm clock radio at one point!
Any speaker can be easily paired up with an active sub if you are really lacking in the that dept.
Okay thanks guys! Here are some i thought about. Maybe you can tell me if any of these are decent:

I don´t want to pay more than 400€.
In a word No, none of them … they are PA speakers designed for School Gyms/Bars/Bingo games … they WILL sound like dog poo, all of them.
the box PA110 A Bundle would probably sound the best of the lot but you will not get still not get a decent bass response, PA systems are designed to throw the sound down a room at high volumes which is not what you want for home DJ’ing
Seriously, for home use, a good hi-fi setup as was suggested above will be wayyyy loud enough and actually sound good, not just loud in all the wrong places.
If you are lacking bass, get a sub
Try these:
and this:
Okay I see. So something like the Jb-Controls with maybe an extra sub would be the best.
I think i will go for the Bose 102s. And combine them with a sub and Amp. Which t-amp do I need for good sound and to combination with a Subwoofer? Should I go for active or passive subwoofers?
Is this amp needed or something less expensive? the t.amp E400 Stereo-Endstufe – Musikhaus Thomann
Thanks!
If you are going Bose get the 201’s not 102’s. And honestly do not buy them brand new unless you want to spend a fortune!
The 102’s only have a single 4’ (?) full-range speaker and really only designed as fill/surround speakers, you will lose ALOT of top end and bass, where the 201’s are “proper” full range speakers. - The 102’s also require a speaker controller to get the best out of them anyhow.
And given the chance I’d go for Control 5’s over 201’s.
The amp will work fine however you might prob need to keep the volumes down on it and if its got a fan (no specified) will be noisy.
An active sub would be better for handiness sakes.
No offense mate, but were giving you solutions and you are going off on your own looking at completely different (worse) gear ?
Thanks for your answer! Sorry that was just a mistake I meant that I want to get the 201 not 102´s.
Dont know why you’d get a PA amp to go with HiFi speakers, doesn’t make sense to me.
Why not just go down the route of an actual HiFi amp, they’ll be more input options too.
Okay the problem is I have no clue about amps. So which hifi amp would be good for the 201 bose or control 5s with maybe a subwoofer?
I’d go with a powered sub to be honest, any would make a difference and you can pick a powered one up reasonable enough, check here … http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separates/speakers/subwoofers
Amp wise the s400 you mentioned on thomann is actually pretty decent although probably a little too much umph for the Bose or control5’s perhaps the smaller fanless s100 MKII would be a better bet.
If it were me, I’d personally probably either pick up a secondhand “vintage” 70-100w Rotel, yamaha or NAD or something on Ebay, failing that something like a Dayton or Muse T-Amps. They are tiny but they pack a punch.
Okay thank you! I will get a powered sub.Are there any specifications an Amp should have? Maybe I can get something cheaper than the T-amp?
Check the Muse amps.
And the link I posted earlier in the thread.
The muse patch mentioned is linked in my last post as well … you really won’t get anything better for the price (40 euro!).
Incidentally the sub $60 Muse and the Dayton amps I linked to ARE known as T-amps (T is for Tripath).. get the 50x50watt versions at least.
I think you might have gotten a lil confused over the t-amps because Thomann’s own brand name is “t.amp” - but they are actually not t-amps.
If you are looking at other second hand amplifiers on ebay etc .. try to get something with at least 50w per channel and stick with brand names.
How many people do you expect to be listening? How big is the listening area? Is this for a big house party or is is just for you an a couple of friends. I know people who have huge overkill setups in their house with CV,JBL and EV bass bins but if it’s for practice and chilling with :; I would suggest getting some cheap monitors with a sub,or a HiFi stereo setup. My setup is some old hifi Panasonic speakers and this amp:
