best pa setup for house parites, pool parties, indoor parties, small venues.
you know, the teenage needs type gigs AND for use as monitors in a club or venue equipped situation
Im looking for a or a pair, or a pair and a sub or a and a sub, you get the point.. Im looking for decent quality loud POWERED pa’s that will get things going, meaning if without a subwoofer, can keep up, and with a subwoofer, will make the place go nuts..
ive browsed around, but most threads (on here and other sites) lead to arguments and deep debates about the ACTUAL peak and RMS or whatever i know there is lots of experience on here, so get to it.. please! lol
also, im open to a passive system, granted it does the same things just as well.
ive been looking at:
thumps (cheap, not loud enough, good bass)
eurolives, the 15d something (good volume, decent bass, plenty loud, cheap, good tops for a subwoofer.)
monitors or PA speakers, and if the thumps arent loud enough for a pool party then
maybe you need to learn about tinnitus and how miserable it’ll make you.
Only night clubs can be night club loud, and in ireland and england they’re about to get quieter.
My pa rig consists of a 500w sub and 2 jbl eon1500, giving me 1200Watts of mobile power,
remembering that i’m playing mastered and compressed audio, my rig can sit along side a live band driving a 5kWatt system as they’re uncompressed and unmastered and so the percieved loudness is about equal.
If anybody requires more than this for a party they should rent a night club,
While we as dj’s need to be heard, we should also consider that deafening our audience is short sighted, plus louder does not equal better, scale you loudness to the size of the venue and the number of people there, start quite and bring it up as the party gets busy. Use powered speakers as they lighten the load on your back, reduce cost and are matched to the drivers. Raise the speakers up on stands to above head height for better projection, use good stands and locking pins and keep your leads tidy and away from peoples feet, trips can lead to law suits.
And remember, its the music that counts, not the decibels.
I’ve got two thumps only because I found them super cheap. Rainbow had them clearing out their stock for 500 bucks for two. I went to Sam Ash and they priced match and I walked with two brand new Thumps. If I had more cash I would’ve gotten some K-Series QSC’s but really for 500 bucks I’ve jammed a party with about 100 people with no problem. For a big event I’d probably want a sub or another speaker to cover some ground with.
