Pioneer DDJ-SP1?

Oh yeah I fully realise that. It’s all good fun for the folks on the forums.

It usually end in a bloodbath when users find stuff out early then start to expect things quicker than planned and start hating on the product before its left the design room. Evidence of that is right here on this forum.

No really dude, you would not. Advance knowledge of future projects can directly affect sales of current projects and the people at the top of the organisation are the ones that decide when I project is public knowledge not the devs or the designers.

I have no interest in knowing about a product before the company responsible is ready to tell. Just isnt my thing.
Its not a popular opinion, but I hate leaks and I hate leakers. It only leads to bad things, even if they are only silly arguments on forums… Meh.:relaxed:

How many iphone knock offs were released within 6 months of the Iphone release. In my line of work, someone not only got a hold of the POS software we wrote for our company within our company, they reverse engineered it to have a slightly different GUI. They successfully ran that software in their business for about 6 months before it was discovered. Needless to say we won the suit.

For a cdj knockoff one has to look no further than gemini. Theyre jog wheel is even identical to the 800 aside from the dots facing a different direction.

The ipod touch was pretty much a direct knock off already of previous devices such as the ipaq. Apple saw what HP did and improved upon it making it more user friendly and media driven. The original Ipod was a good design which didnt have any knockoffs that I can remember, but at its release the market had already ben flooded with mp3 and mp3/cd players.

No, V7 has a spinning jogwheel and it would be a first attempt for Pio to try to incorporate than. Denon would be a different story..

So you’re saying Pio DDJ-T1 & DDJ-S1 are sending some kind of HID commands for jogs and for that, it is immposible to custom map? Did not know that…but that would explain excellent jog wheel performance in Traktor for a third party product, right? Pioneer must have paid NI for that :unamused:

+1

Totally agree. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a Pioneer leak (considering all the hype about Behringer PL-1  )

There is more then 1 service center in Belgium/Netherlands (I live close to the border).
It’s always nice te hear that pioneer is coming with something new. But for now we only know the name.

Instead of it being Single Platter I’m rather hoping it’s gonna be a Standalone Player. The DDJ-SX but workable with USB/CD’s and no more need of a laptop. That’d be awesome! Like the Aero, but prettier and more functional with the touchpads etcetera.

XDJ R1 pretty much does this doesn’t it.

Doesn’t have the high-end feel the DDJ-SX does have, plus misses the dual deck functionality, touch pads, channel individual filters, etcetera. So even though the R1 offers the stand alone functions, it lacks in the finishing touch.

See it like this; you have a DJM/CDJ350 standalone solution, but you don’t have a DJM/CDJ850/900/2000 high-end standalone. It’s not like there isn’t a market for that either.

A DJM2000 standalone AIO makes no sense. At that point you should just buy the existing products.

The R1 does have channel filters btw.

Agreed. You want high end feel you buy the high end separates that are available. IMO the R1 is likely to be the best quality all in one that Pioneer can provide at THAT price point.

I disagree; Why, as a mobile DJ, shouldn’t I be able to spend 1500-2000$ on a high end standalone player such as the XDJ-R1, but instead based on the DJM350, based on i.e. the DJM850? Why do I instantly need to spend 3500$ for a set which is a lot harder to carry around? I’d rather pay a bit more for a mobile high-end dj set I can take with me easily instead of having to pay full pull and get an extra hassle when taking everything with me by public transport for example.

Different people different needs I guess

The R1 has Colour FX and Beat FX per channel, which is much more similar to the DJM850 than the 350.

Anyone else notice at the bottom it looks like DDJ WEGO 2? Am I late to the party or is this something new too?

Those are called CDJ2000s

Honestly removing the CD deck from the player would not save much money, It would make the deck smaller I guess but that’s about it.

I made up a thread about a thing like this in the CDJ and Vinyl forum.
Had a lot of response there,so it really feels like the market is waiting for a product like that!

If it can play MP3s from USB sticks it’ll need a screen too, making it much more similar to a CDJ or the Aero than the MIDI platter controllers.

Agreed… again!!

I would actually seriously consider buying a single deck Pio (or NI) midi/HID platter controller.

Besides the “bulk” of having a CD drive, the CDJ 2000 has all those features already.

Why would they? As crazy as it sounds there are people who still use CDs.

The drive only adds height to the device, which you’ll need to keep the deck at mixer height.

There’s almost no reason to get rid of the drive. It barely costs them to integrate, and it legacy is important.
