I don’t know where or who to turn to at this point. I attempted multiple times to reach out to DJTT through official channels but have not received a response for 2 weeks now. I ordered the Chroma USB drive, it died within an hour after arrival. I really need some help here to either start a return or get some support.
I connected the drive to my Mac via USB-C. Formatted (MAC/Journaled) and transferred music to it. I was able to initially play and browse through my files in Traktor Pro 4 and later in Mixed In Key.
About an hour into my working session the USB disconnected: Mac gave me an error that it was improperly ejected. I verified the USB was secured in place, it did not move nor obstructed.
I attempted to plug it in to all other available ports but it would not come up, not readable nor recognizable in disk utility. I also attempted to plug it into my PC (USB A). While I heard the sound indicating a device is connected, the USB was not recognized (likely due to the format).
I am now stuck with no other options ahead of me, a gig coming up fast and the need to prepare my music and use the USB Drive for prep and live performance. I’m at a standstill. Please advise.
Shut down your Mac completely. Unplug the drive. On Intel-based Macs, perform an SMC and NVRAM reset. For Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3), a simple 30-second power-down often resets the USB controller.
that’s super frustrating, especially with a gig coming up
honestly sounds like the drive just died – if it’s not showing up in Disk Utility at all, it’s usually hardware, not formatting. not much you can fix on your end then.
i’d try one last thing: different cable/adapter + another mac (just to be 100% sure), but yeah… chances are it’s gone.
for now I’d grab a backup USB asap so you can prep your set, and keep trying support in parallel. also maybe ping them publicly (twitter/insta), sometimes that gets faster responses
