Problem with Registering S4

So I was going to order my S4 here from djtechtools.com today, but I saw that guitar center had a $150 off coupon of purchases over $749 or more. I jumped on this not only to save a few bucks, but to also purchase a 3 year warranty.

When checking out at the register, it looked like the box had been opened. I asked the sales associate “Hey man has this thing been opened?” He replied “No man they all come like that”. Now I have never had a problem with Guitar Center, I buy probably 90% of my gear from there. I get home tonight and begin unboxing the package I have been saving up for the past few months. There are some signs of the box being opened previously, I just assumed hey maybe they just checked to make sure everything was in here. I also had the 3 year warranty, so I wasn’t to worried. I sort of shrugged it off.

However upon trying to register the S4 unit (haven’t even tried Traktor Pro 2 yet, I’m sure it will give me the same error message) it says that the serial number has already been registered/used and I cannot continue the installation. I am a bit ticked off at this point.

My questions to you guys and gals.

  1. I’m guessing I should call NI tomorrow over the phone and try and explain my situation first. See what they say?

  2. Depending on what NI says call Guitar Center back and try and swap out for another unit?

Thoughts?

I would go to GC and get a sealed unit. Sounds like a returned unit that some one registered already. That’s why you got the GC warranty right?

try downloading the traktor pro 2 trial from the NI website and registering with your included serial number.

there was a batch of s4’s sent out with TP2 serials attached to Traktor S4 discs. mine was one of them and registering the TP2 trial worked for me :slight_smile:

I think you need to take it back. DJTT will make pretty sweet dals if you contact them.

Thanks for the input guys. I called NI and explained my situation. I had to supply a few photos of the hardware, software, manual, receipts, etc. and they were able to activate my S4 and Traktor Pro 2.

Now to learn this monster…

I started DJ’ing about 2 months ago using Ableton Live and an APC 40.
