Problem with Traktor and Headphones

Problem with Traktor and Headphones

Hello there— And sorry for this quick post… I know a hysterical newbie question like this will cause massive facepalms. First of all I’m a complete newbie to mixing, to these forums and everything so I don’t really have knowledge about all these audio terms. I’ve been mixing blind for 2 months now since we didn’t own any headphones until now. I got a fucking gig in 12 days and I have no clue how to get my headphones to work with Traktor. I use use a Numark iDJ3 Controller, got the Asio4All stuff downloaded and everything, but now I’m hysterically sitting here wondering what the F to do. Any help as quick as possible would be very very very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit here’s screenies of my Audio Setup

And my Output Routing:

Change your outputs the other way around e.g. master = 1/2, cue = 3/4 in Traktor settings - you just have the cue going to your master output.

So my Output Monitor is L: Ch3 and R: Ch4
And my Output Master is L:Ch1 and R: Ch2, and now when I press Cue nothing happens. It just keeps coming out of the speakers and still nothing from the headphones, exactly as I wouldn’t have any headphones plugged in at all.

When you hit cue on deck a for example does the headphone indicator in the software highlight? I mean the little orange button not the big red deck cue button. If not then you need to map that in the controller manager.

Lets see a screenshot of your output routings.

Yeah it does highlight mate I think my mappings should be ok. Here’s a screenie of the preferences

Bump ( Sorry for the bump but I really need some help with this as quick as possible )

Show us your Audio Setup tab as well…

There you go

Even from that tiny pic i can see you are using the asio4all drivers instead of your idj3 ones, which you should be using.

Allright I’m now using the iDJ3 drivers, but the problem persists..

Edit: Should the selected Audio Device be iDJ3 as well then? If I select the iDJ3 as the audio device then my plugged in headphones suddently work, but there’s no sound coming out of the speakers, and when I unplug the headphones there’s still no sound coming out of the speakers.
(Here’s a screenie of the Output preferences when I’m selecting iDJ3)

Isn’t HD audio the motherboards built in soundcard?

You need to set it to your iDJ3 like Jester says in Audio Setup.
The change the output modes.

Allright I did that, although if you could check my former reply.

Yes select the iDJ3 in audio setup..

Then in output routing make sure HD audio is not selected..

I think ..

Ok not to state the obvious but is the Headphones Mix Knob in the centre or to the left of centre? If it is full right you will only hear the master output in your headphones.

This is how my audio setup looks like at the moment…

And if you mean this knob (The cue volume eh):

No matter what I do with it, it doesn’t change anything. The sound comes out of my headphones but nothing comes out of the speakers. I can turn that friggin knob where ever I want but nothing changes.
EDIT!!! Yeah uhm the Mix knob now (As I changed to the Mixer layout) is just as it should be. Still have the same problem as before.

You are in scratch mode. switch to internal mode.

Internal mode as “Mixer” layout like the one I currently have selected?

Oh yeah and another question is… should the Cue source which is selected with this one knob in my controller and is not shown in the software (Cue source) be on A/B or Master?

Click on the Deck letter. A drop down menu gives you a few options. You want the one that says “Internal Playback”

In the Preferences under “Mixer” tick all the boxes.

Under “Output Routing” make sure the Mixing Mode is set to internal.

Allright did everything just as you instructed but it didn’t remove the problem. Still no sound coming out of the speakers.
Oh and yeah thanks for still trying to help me man you have no idea how much I appreciate this.

EDIT: Seems like the only way of getting sound out of the speakers is selecting ASIO4all on the selected Audio Device, but then I can’t use the headphones, and if I select iDJ3 ONLY the headphones provide me with sound. Getting slightly desperate.

k k i’m just having a look at this beast on the site.

The cue source switch is set to A/B right?
