Problems using Ableton and Traktor on same audio interface / MacBook
I’ve been struggling to get Ableton Live (and Push) working with Traktor on my 2015 MBP. I have four decks outputting via Audio 10 and the fifth stereo channel for Ableton. The problem is the audio starts to stutter heavily and I get massive latency from the application that isn’t in focus (IE not an active window) after a minute or so. Am I wrong in assuming this should all be fine? Is there some sort of CPU piority that needs to be set for both to work hen not in focus?
Hawtin also uses an RME FireFace UFX which has an extra routing layer called TotalMix, between this and the exceptional driver support that RME products have its going to work better than the core audio class compliant TA10.
I’d probably stick with using 2 soundcards for the moment.
Jack (the Jack Audio Connection Kit) is a low-latency audio server, written originally for the GNU/Linux operating system, and now with Mac OS X support. It can connect any number of different applications to a single hardware audio device; it Starting in version 0.88, it also routes MIDI to/from any OS X application.
Jack is different from other audio server efforts in that it has been designed from the ground up to be suitable for professional audio work. This means that it focuses on two key areas: synchronous execution of all clients, and low latency operation.
Thanks, but how would it help in my situation when I have enough outputs on the card? My issue is the software crapping out if it’s not the focus window.
I had the same problem with my db4 and traktor and ableton. the thing that went wrong with my setup is it went wrong when i connected push to the hub in my d2, audio went bad up to the point i had to restart the db4, after i connected the push directly to my laptop i never had the problem again, same problem with my arturia sparkle, connected to the d2 hub it fck up the audio, connected directly to the laptop it was all ok…so maybe worth to check this out
I tried running traktor and ableton at the same time in the past, never got it functioning quite how I wanted. I think if you run it using independent soundcards it will workout much better for you.
I use ableton, maschine and traktor together on the db4 soundcard, apart from the problems with push interfering the signal somehow it works like a charm
Thanks, but I don’t wan to route Ableton to a Taktor deck. I’ve got six channels on my mixer and five stereo channels on my audio interface. I’ve got a few other things to try and resolve this, including slapping another NI audio interface in there.
