i just ordered an Akai APC40, and though I plan to use it with Ableton as intended, I’d like to also use it to control Trak Pro. Below is what I think a potential mapping could look like. I’m definitely open to suggestions. I plan to do any EQ-ing on my Xone92, which will solve the problem of not having enough knobs for the channel EQs (though I did include an EQ Kill for the focus deck) The background image is just the basic image I butchered out of the quickstart guide.
Luckily for Ableton this thing doesn’t need any mapping. It comes with it’s own version of Ableton 8 for the APC. The only mapping I’ll have to do is for Traktor.
For sure, I plan on tweaking it a bit. It sure is simple enough to change stuff around.
As for the Ableton, it’s my understanding that it comes with it’s own full proprietary version of Ableton (actually called Ableton Live Akai Professional APC Edition) but if you’re already an Ableton user, it includes an upgrade patch to enable the APC40 features.
I was going to go for this but then sat and thought about how i would use it for DJing, in the end decided i would build my own midi box just how i wanted it, after about two months designing it im almost ready to get the face plate cut
Will the cool lights around the knobs be fully mappable with Traktor Pro? I’d like to be able to, for example, assign a filter to a knob and then have the lights off at the 12 position but then have them turn on to the left when I turn the knob left and turn on to the right when I turn the knob right.
this is true, but how do you get them to map like I described? Seems you can only map button lights in TPro. Are there options to map knob lights based on the position of the knob in TPro?
